Heart to Heart
A Christian Service Program
for St. Margaret Mary Catholic School
St. Margaret Mary was the “beloved disciple of the sacred heart” of Jesus. How
can we be disciples of the Lord’s heart? Let us give our hearts to his Sacred
Heart. Beginning with September, each month will have a “Heart to Heart”
service theme. Before the first Friday Mass of each month, in honor of St. Margaret Mary’s
first Friday devotion to the Eucharist, each child will place a paper heart with his or her
name on it in a service basket, indicating they have completed the previous month’s project.
The heart-filled basket will be carried forward with the offertory gifts. After Mass, the
hearts will then be placed on a bulletin board in the cafeteria as a visual symbol for students
to see each day. This month’s service is “Give our hearts to the world.” Some ideas are:
Catholic World Missionary for the Border, The Water Project, or a letter and drawing to a
missionary. Please check your e-mail account for an e-mail sent this past week for more
information. If you have any questions, call Scott Osborn at 985-643-4612. Thank you and
God bless!
FIRST HEARTS COLLECTED AT MASS ON OCTOBER 7TH
PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYER
Our SMM students pray for those members of our SMM family who have asked for our prayers every morning on the WSMM Morning Show which begins at 8:10 am. Please
join us in prayer any morning in the studio or in spirit. Please keep the following
people in your prayers:
The Pope and Church leaders; All service men & women; Police, firefighters and
first responders
Ethan Abbenante, Steve Nichols, Susan Dillon, Peter Ganucheau, Larry Flinders, Debbie
Lauff, James Newcomb, Sr., Bailey Walcott, and Brad Wagner
For the October prayer intention of the Holy Father which IS: That journalists, in carrying out their work, may always be motivated by respect for truth and a strong sense of ethics.
That through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, we will be spared any loss of
life and damage to property during this hurricane season.
For our parents, grandparents, and family members who are ill, and all others who
have asked for our prayers.
For the prayers we
hold in the silence of our hearts.
SMM STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
FOR SEPTEMBER
This year we have changed our approach to selecting
students of the month. Instead of having a theme
each month, the teachers are selecting students who
demonstrate the overall qualities of an outstanding
SMM student or those students who have gone above
and beyond during the month. These are our everyday role models who lead
by example. Congratulations to the following students:
Kindergarten: Gavin DeHarde’, Lily Bauer, Brooklyn Bacon
1st Grade: Hank Ripoll, Julianni Tran
2nd Grade: Katherine Hebert, Chase Spadoni
3rd Grade: Emmy Hope, Isabella Dinh
4th Grade: Malaina Gonlag, Olivia Powell
5th Grade: Lillian Grant, Ethan Donnelly
6th Grade: Eleanor Degan, Caitlyn Ordone, Jessica Runnels
7th Grade: Nicholas Barone, Marshall Thompson

Dear SMM Parents,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Saint Margaret Mary School is excited to announce that we have begun a school improvement
process, of which all stakeholders are a part, including YOU, the parents. On Monday, you will
receive an invitation to participate in an online survey designed to help us achieve that goal.
Parents will have the opportunity to complete this brief survey during the period from Monday, October 3rd, through Sunday, October 16th.
These surveys, administered via the AdvancED national accreditation program, will provide
school leaders and teachers a view into the thinking and perceptions of our stakeholders.
Careful analysis of the results will help us identify areas of strength and effectiveness, as
well as those areas in need of improvement. Your voice WILL be heard, as will the voices of
all faculty members and students in grades 3-7 (who will take their own surveys in Computer
class next week). In addition, you will gain insight into the AdvancED Standards for Quality
Schools and what makes a high quality learning institution.
To achieve success, we are counting on you and all stakeholders to participate in this review
of school policy, personnel, and practice. Please make every attempt to do so, as it is crucial
to our plan of improvement in meeting the needs of your children.
Finally, in addition to the AdvancED Standard Survey, you will be invited to take a Catholic
Identity Survey. This assessment will help us evaluate how well we live out the Gospel message as a school and our effectiveness at instilling the Christian faith and ideals in our students. Again, please respond to the e-mail invite and help us make SMM the best school it can
be!
Thank you, in advance, for your time and thoughtful consideration as we journey, together, on
a path toward continual improvement!
Sincerely,
In Christ,
Scott Osborn, M.Ed.
