Tips for Finding a Roommate
ROOMMATES
What to Ask When Looking For a Roommate
• How much messiness can I tolerate in a roommate?
Determine whether you are able to live in a slightly disorganized space, a spotless home, or with a lot of clutter, and let your roommate know what he or she can expect from you.
• Will our schedules and habits be disruptive to one another?
Do you prefer to stay up late and listen to music or watch TV? You may consider looking for a roommate who has the same habits so you don’t bother one another’s sleep schedules.
Helpful Hint.
• How will we split bills?
Once you’ve narrowed down roommate options, discuss how you will

share the cost of utilities, groceries, rent, and other costs.
Ask the right questions.
ROOMMATES
What to Ask When Looking For a Roommate
• Will my roommate be understanding of a busy and varied
nursing schedule?
You will be completing classwork, going to labs, and attending clinicals at varied hours. Make sure this won’t bother a potential roommate.
• Will I have the environment I need to complete my classwork
at home?
If you need silence and space to study, make sure you find a roommate who doesn’t distract you with too much chit-chat or a loud TV.
Helpful Hint.
• Will you both be communicative?
Remember, you are going to live with this person for the next 16 months. Getting a roommate is a great
way to save money on your
living expenses.
Make sure he or she talks to you about bills, problems, and other aspects to keep your living situation comfortable.
