***LOOKING AHEAD***
*Cookie Dough Fundraiser turn in day is the next
three Tuesdays.
*Book Fair – September 14-18.
*United Way Hat Day: Tuesday, September 15 –
Students can pay $1 for the right to wear a hat during
the school day.
*Fall Picture Day – September 16
**Patriot Day Food Drive September 1-30. The
food bank needs cans and boxes of non-perishable
food. You can also make a monetary donation too!
The class collecting the most food will get a Pepsi
and pizza party!!! I will give bonus points to all the
students who participates in this worthy cause!!
Reading/VocabularyThis week we will begin learning about nonfiction text features as
we continue learning to be deeper thinkers. We will work on
identifying main idea from each section of the text we read. We
will be reading about snakes in our National Geographic Explorer
magazine. During centers we will be reading another nonfiction
text on snakes, working on cursive handwriting, vocabulary,
spelling, and technology.

What we’re learning...
Vocabulary
we will be using our words in content this week. Our test will be
Wednesday.
Spelling
we will begin getting our spelling words for next week. The list
should come home Friday. Every child will not have the same
spelling words. Spelling is based on each child’s needs. We will
have spelling tests on Thursdays.
Writing
we will begin learning how to write an expository paragraph.
Math
We will review chapter 2 today and tomorrow and take the chapter
test Wednesday. The vocabulary test will be Tuesday. Thursday
we will begin chapter 3-Understanding Multiplication.
Monday: Review chapter

Wednesday: Chapter 2 Math Test
Thursday: Lesson 3.1 Count Equal Groups pages 97-100
Friday: Lesson Relate Addition and Multiplication pages 101-104
English– We will continue with our DOL skills this week. We will
be looking for irregular verbs, homophones, spelling patterns,
apostrophe to form contractions, punctuation, and nouns. DOL
test will be Friday.
Social studies– we will be learning about physical maps and
identifying regions and boundaries within the U.S.

**I will be taking grades during reading and social
studies I will let the children know when I am taking
the activity for a grade, and if it will count for a test
grade or a daily grade.
