Writing Your Memoirs
Laughter seems to be the most abundant by-product of this
most popular course for seniors. Sharing stories that you probably didn’t think you had in you provides the framework for the
larger picture of a life–yours. Fleurette, who juggles her leadership role on the YCSC council with her teachng, has taught this
course a number of times and she even shares some of her own
stories with readers of The Sanford News. Her technique elicits from her students humor they might not have recognized in
their own pedestrian lives. What a great legacy for your grand
kids.

Great Orchestral Masterpieces II:
Structure, Form, Context, Technique
Heightened enjoyment of great music through greater understanding is the major objective of this course. Music’s technical aspects are demonstrated through illuminating excerpts presented on
DVD’s by an engaging lecturer. Along the way you’ll learn historical
and cultural context along with fascinating biographical sketches of
world famous composers–household names you might know little
about–from Bach to Copland. Fifteen works will be examined and
leave you longing for more. This second semester offering will feature
15 pieces different from the first semester. You need not have already
taken part one.

For 30 years Adele has been teaching people just like you how to
relax through meditation; but she also emphasizes its other benefits–

Come join ice-cream-eating expert Kathy Porter in her search
for the best ice cream in Maine, unrivaled in its assortment of ice
cream stands. Once a week the class will pack a lunch and meet at
a famous (or soon to be famous) stand in a scenic spot in Southern
Maine. No homework. Just bring your appetite, your appreciation
of Maine’s scenic beauty and your sense of fun.

The Original X-Man: Odysseus, Never at a Loss
He pre-dates the alphabet, writing, reading, peanut butter and
cellphones but his exploits resonate through the ages. Odysseus
was an intelligent man, practical man who did what he had to do
and dealt with the consequences. Homer, the Greek poet whose
recounting of the Odyssey has thrilled readers–and listeners–for
millenia, will thrill us a-new.

Citizens United, guilty-by-reason of insanity, doctor-assisted suicide, Affordable Care Act, school vouchers, Affirmative Action,
and 15 more. Mini-lectures on psychology concepts, medical
models, economics, and philosophical perspectives will provide
the framework for open discussion. Come solve the world’s problems.

The musicals of the 1960’s provide a diversity of settings and
themes–from Camelot to Fiddler on the Roof to Cabaret–all
the way to Jesus Christ Superstar. Whether you experience musicals on stage or via movies, come learn about, review, discuss
those of that glorius era. Topics will include story lines, composers, and music against the backdrop of time. The class will also
view highlights of each production to burnish those cherished
memories that are an integral part of the Broadway adventure.

Writing Your Memoirs
Laughter seems to be the most abundant by-product of this
most popular course for seniors. Sharing stories that you probably didn’t think you had in you provides the framework for the
larger picture of a life–yours. Fleurette, who juggles her leadership role on the YCSC council with her teachng, has taught this
course a number of times and she even shares some of her own
stories with readers of The Sanford News. Her technique elicits from her students humor they might not have recognized in
their own pedestrian lives. What a great legacy for your grand
kids.

Great Orchestral Masterpieces II:
Structure, Form, Context, Technique
Heightened enjoyment of great music through greater understanding is the major objective of this course. Music’s technical aspects are demonstrated through illuminating excerpts presented on
DVD’s by an engaging lecturer. Along the way you’ll learn historical
and cultural context along with fascinating biographical sketches of
world famous composers–household names you might know little
about–from Bach to Copland. Fifteen works will be examined and
leave you longing for more. This second semester offering will feature
15 pieces different from the first semester. You need not have already
taken part one.
