GPs and other primary care professionals have a key role to play in prevention, early detection and management of substance misuse and addiction. This one day Active Learning Module (ALM) developed by RACGP Queensland aims to develop and enhance rural GPs' skills in recognising and treating patients who present with drug addictions. The workshop will cover many of the dominant addictive substances seen in general practice including alcohol, benzodiazepines, cannabis, opioids and other amphetamine-like substances, as well as emerging drugs. The activity will take on a rural and regional focus, addressing issues specific to the areas in which they are held. Attendees will be expected to be active participants as our expert presenters facilitate group learning.
