1. Find the upper angle - note height.
(eg. 45˚ → 20m)
2. Find the lower angle - note height. If
the base of the tree is below your
eye level, you will have a negative
value for the lower angle.
(eg. -7˚ → -2.4)
3. Subtract the height of the lower
angle from that of the upper angle.
(eg. 20m - (-2.4m) = 22.4m)
4. More examples:
Upper angle: 32˚
Lower angle: 5˚
Total height = 12.5m - 1.6m = 10.9m
Upper angle: 60˚
Lower angle: -6˚
Total height = 20tan(60˚) - (- 2.1) = 36.74m
