This includes a wet clay project led by an experienced Studio 550 staff. Is this paint your own pottery? NO! We work with wet low-fire earthenware clay. Participants get to create their pieces from scratch, and then "paint" their projects when the clay is still wet with colored liquid clay. The pieces will be brought back to our studio, prepared for firing, given a clear shiny glaze, and fired to a finished state. What kind of projects can we make? The project can be catered to the needs, interests, and abilities of your group. Each participant makes one piece. Possible options: 550 Elm Street Manchester, NH 03101 www.550arts.com [email protected] - a seasonal project (pumpkins for Halloween, votive candle holders for the holidays, etc.) - a project to compliment your lesson plan (sea creatures, personal narratives, etc.) - purely functional projects (mugs with handles, coil built bowls, etc.) - boxes, pinch pots, tall coil pots, masks, the possibilities are endless! How long does it take to finish? Please allow 2-3 weeks for the return of your work. Once finished, you will be contacted to arrange a drop-off time. Free delivery of finished pieces within downtown. How many students for each class? Classes can be any size you can accommodate in your space. However, for classes larger than 10, we request there be another chaperone/volunteer from your organization to be there for each additional 10 students (i.e. a class of 25 would have a Studio 550 Staff member and two volunteers/aids from your organization). Generally, if you have more than 30 students in a class session, we recommend booking two Studio 550 Staff members for your visit. Please contact us with specific questions. Anything else I should know? For long-distance multi-day classes the host organization needs to provide housing and parking for the teacher. For Full-day Visits, a break for lunch must be included. How do I schedule a visit? For scheduling, contact our office at [email protected]. Tentative dates will be set, you will be paired with a Studio 550 staff to be your instructor, and you will work out the project details together. All scheduling and billing is handled through our office. A referral by you is the greatest compliment. If you know of any other organization or group who would enjoy a visit from the Studio 550 Mobile Studio, please let us know. Thanks!
