English Composition (ENGL 1100): Focuses on writing and critical thinking by
using an integrated approach to writing that teaches various rhetorical
strategies for reading and constructing arguments.
English Composition II (ENGL 1120, Business) This business-themed
composition course seeks to encourage discussions in social, ethical, legal, and
economic matters. Student compositions include analyzing and evaluating
arguments, comparing/contrasting and synthesizing sources, and constructing
an extended argument using multiple research sources.
IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE, INSTRUCTOR: SUMMER 2011
English Composition (ENGL 111): Designed to develop students’ abilities to
think, organize, and express their ideas clearly and effectively in writing.
Emphasis on the various forms of expository writing such as process,
description, narration, comparison, analysis, persuasion, and argumentation.

project-based applications of principles of audience, context, purpose, the
organization of information, and writing strategies of technical writing. Students
participated in extended client-based learning projects.

the course, leading class discussions, grading academic work, mentoring
