Welcome
Diwali Celebration and School Assembly
This Friday we are celebrating Diwali. Children may wear their traditional Indian clothing or come dressed in
brightly coloured clothes for the day. They will be learning the meaning of Diwali and drawing rangoli patterns
on the playground. At our whole school assembly Rooms 4 and 7 will be hosting and our Indian dance group
will perform. Certificates will be given to the school netball team. We look forward to our parents and whanau
joining us in the hall at 1:30pm.
Colours of New Zealand - Manuka Wearable Arts
Tickets for our Wearable Arts Evening are on sale in the office or you can send in an order form from the
newsletter. Ticket sales are going very well. Don’t leave it to the last minute and miss out! It is going to be a
wonderful evening!
The Wearable Arts Evenings are Wednesday 20th November and Thursday 21st November from 6.30pm.
All students in the school are involved over both evening performances. A letter will be coming home shortly
with respect to student attendance on the evenings.
Ticket prices are:
 A Reserve tickets $20
 B Reserve tickets $12
PSG Raffle
We are asking for tinned, packet, laundry and bathroom items for the grocery hampers to be raffled on the 2
nights of the Manuka Wearable Art Show. Please send them to the school office and ensure they are unused and
within their use by date. Thank you to the families who have already sent in items.
PSG Meeting Monday November 11th
The next meeting is being held on Monday evening at 7pm in the admin block. We will be organising our end
of year festivities. If you can help out on the Wearable Art stalls, the Glenfield Christmas gala stall or at the
discos we would love to see you at the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting but would still like to help
please fill in the forms at the bottom of the newsletter and return them to the school office.
Glenfield Christmas Gala Cake/Novelty Stall
Every family will receive a cake box with their newsletter next Wednesday. Each family is asked to give a cake,
cupcakes, biscuits or sweets in the box to be sold from the PSG cake and novelty stall at the Glenfield Christmas
gala at Marlborough Park on Sunday November 17th following the Santa Parade. Instructions for when and
where to deliver the boxes will be in the newsletter next week.
Booster Seats
Occasionally we have to transport one of our younger children in a car and legally our 5-7 year olds must now
be in a booster seat. The Board of Trustees feels it would be advisable for us to have a couple of booster seats
on site in order to comply with the law if needed. If any family has a booster seat you no longer need we
would be grateful if it could be donated to our school. It must have a current best before date.
Out of School Hours Playground Behaviour
We have recently had a few incidents of inappropriate behaviour on the school roofs after hours, one of which
resulted in a boy being badly injured and hospitalised. If you are in the grounds and see boys skateboarding on
our roof can you please phone the police or any of the phone numbers taped on the admin door. If necessary
we will have the offenders issued with trespass orders to prevent further injury to the boys and damage to our
property.
Sharks Touch Rugby
Well done to all three teams who played yesterday afternoon. According to their coaches their games were
awesome and the teams played so well!
Year 1 and 2 : Red Ninjas played a friendly game against Bayview Believers scoring 2-6 to Bayview. Player of
the day was awarded to Hailey Lewis.
Year 3 and 4: The Black Panthers played two games firstly winning 5-0 against Bayview Cheetahs and then tied
1-1 in their friendly game against Glenfield Gorillas.
We had two players who stood out for Player of the Day – Navick Chandra and Prince Muyambiri
Year 5 and 6 The Outlaws 1st game was against Willow Park Tigers which Manuka won 7 nil. Tayne scored 2
tries, Nadine scored 2 tries and Zeke and Matthew scored 1. Their next game was a friendly against Northcote
Invincibles which they lost 6-5 but again 3 tries to Shontel, 1 each to Zeke and Matthew. Player of the Day was
Nadine. The Jelly beans must have helped.
