Officer Position Descriptions
President

Call meetings of the Executive Committee or the Association

Preside at meetings of the Executive Committee and the Association.

Appoint Chairpersons of Standing Committees, subject other advice and consent of the other
Officers.

Appoint Chairpersons and members of Special Committees and Boards subject to the advice and
consent of the Executive Committee.

Serve as official representative of the Association on all matters of interest to the Association,
after due consultation with the Executive Committee.

Act as one of the signing Officers for Association bank accounts.

Serve as an ex-officio member of all Standing and Special Committees and Boards, with the
excepting of the Nominating and Elections Committee.

Have sole responsibility for the supervision of Association employees.

Contract for all goods and services necessary for the management of the Association, and
delegate powers and duties to Association members, after due consultation with the executive
Committee.
Vice President - Administration

Assume the duties of the President in his/her absence.

Act as one of the signing Officers for Association bank accounts in the absence of the President.

Assist in the planning, scheduling and coordination of (1) legal matters pertaining to the
Association, (2) Public Relations activities and events, (3) Government Affairs activities and
events, (4) financial activities and events with Chairpersons, other Committees and Boards, the
Executive Committee, and the Association, as necessary.

Maintain an ongoing calendar of all Chapter activities and events.

Execute any other duties assigned by the President.

Vice President - Development

Assume the duties of the Vice President of Administration in his/her absence.

Act as one of the signing Officers for Association bank accounts in the absence of the Vice
President of Administration.

Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of (1) Business and Economic Development
activities and events, (2) Corporate Development activities and events, (3) Student Outreach
activities and events, (4) fund raising for local and national activities and events.

Execute any other duties assigned by the President.
Vice President - Membership

Assume the duties of the Vice-President of Development in his/her absence.

Assist in the planning, scheduling and coordination of (1) Membership activities and events and
(2) Professional Development activities and events with chairpersons of standing committees,
other Committees and Boards, the Executive Committee and the Association as necessary.

Execute any other duties as assigned by the President.
Treasurer

Have sole responsibility for the receipt and deposit of Association funds.

Maintain a record of receipts, disbursements, and other financial transactions made by or on
behalf of the Association, in a uniform set of books, in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles.

Present at all Regular Meetings of the Executive Committee and the Association a financial
report, which describes the current financial position of the Association.

Present at the Annual Meeting of the Association financial statements which describe the current
financial position of the Association.

Serve as one of the signing Officers for Association bank accounts.

Preside at Regular Meetings of the Executive Committee and regular meetings of the Association
in the absence of the President and the Vice Presidents.

Commission a certified auditor to audit the chapter’s use of funds and provide a report.

Deputy Treasurer

Assume the duties of the Treasurer in the absence of the latter.

Act as one of the signing Officers for Association bank accounts in the absence of the Treasurer.

Have the option of becoming Treasurer upon vacancy of the Office of Treasurer, subject to the
advice and consent of the Executive Committee.

Execute any other duties as assigned by the Executive Committee.
Corresponding Secretary

Conduct the correspondence of the Executive Committee and the Association.

Give notice of all Meetings of the Executive Committee and the Association.

Publish on a routine basis the calendar of all Association activities and events and other matters
of interest to the Association.

Review and approve all publications including newsletters, flyers, brochures, etc. on behalf of the
Association.
Responding Secretary

Maintain records of all non-financial transactions made by or on behalf of the Association.

Maintain a current membership roster for the Association.

Maintain adequate minutes of the proceedings of the Executive Committee and the Association,
and publish them on a regular basis.

Give notice to members of the Executive Committee, or members of Committees or Boards, of all
orders, resolutions, or proceedings affecting them or pertaining to their respective duties.

Serve as Chief Certifying Officer for all elections, ballots and referenda.

Call Special Meetings of the Executive Committees and the Association

Have the option of serving as Chairperson of the Nominating and Elections Committee.
