We also got out to do some shopping at Walmart
and the Dollar Store, as well as some great scenic
rides.
The residents paid tribute to our veterans and their
families on Veteran’s Day. It is heartfelt to be able
to be part of honoring our Veterans.
DECEMBER
NEWSLETTER
Thanksgiving arrived with all of the trimmings, as
well as stories of Thanksgiving’s past. Our book
club meets every Tuesday afternoon. The residents
enjoy reminisce magazine, and the stories that are
read that bring back memories and tales of days
gone by as well as laughter, as we all discover a
common thread in those memories.
Our residents also enjoyed bingo, religious
programs, yahtzee, WII bowling, exercise, ice
cream socials, arts and crafts, and much more.
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and that you
get an opportunity to count your blessings.

NOVEMBER RECAP
LOOKING AHEAD TO DECEMBER
It has been a beautiful fall! Our residents were
able to enjoy our late fall weather well into the
month…and of course we also got a taste of what is
ahead with that mid-November snow storm.
During November our residents were entertained
by Beth Whitbeck, Touch of Joy ,Larry Bitterman,
and Howie Bartolo. Our friends from Lincoln
School were here dancing and singing away on
November 22. We are very lucky to have Mrs.
Joyce’s Pre-K class come here once a month to
show us everything they are learning.
Our residents enjoyed baking group in November.
We got into fall by making ginger cookies, pumpkin
lush, and pumpkin rolls. It is a pleasure to cook
and bake with the ladies. Lots of experience at
work.
Happy Holidays! It is going to be a busy month
here at The Terrace as we begin the holiday
season.
There is plenty of entertainment here during
December. Lincoln School will be with us on
December 15th. We will also be sharing treats and
singing carols with them that day. Little children
and Christmas go hand in hand. They certainly
brighten up our day. We will also be singing along
with a Touch of Joy, Aaron Karpella, Gabe Verkey,
Carol Gent, St. Michael’s Youth Group and The
Newark Middle School, and an evening
performance by The Fingerlakes Chorus.
Our bakers will be busy baking up holiday treats
again this year. We keep the ovens busy in
December baking traditional as well as new
Christmas cookies. On Dec 23rd the bakers will all
get together and we will put together cookie plates
for all of our residents. We will deliver plates on
the afternoon of the 23rd. On December 9th we will
be visiting the Granger Homestead to see the
beautiful decorated trees and wreaths.
In keeping with the holiday spirit, we will be
making ornaments, trimming trees, enjoying the
local Christmas lights (evening scenic rides), and
much more.
Our “Holiday Family Party” will be held on Friday,
December 16th. There will be lots of music and
merriment, as well as sweet treats. Hope you can
join us that evening. It is always a night filled with
family and fun.
We are asking our residents and family’s to
decorate their doors. It is a great activity and the
residents really enjoy walking the hallways and
looking at the different doors. A box will be
available in the activity room with supplies to help
out, or you may bring your own.

5 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups whole milk
1 1/4 cups good quality bourbon or
whiskey
1/4 cup spiced rum
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp nutmeg plus more for garnish
Instruction
1. Whisk yolks with sugar until creamy
and sugar begins to dissolve.
2. Add cream, milk, bourbon and rum
and stir to combine.
3. Stir in nutmeg and vanilla and chill
well.
4. Serve chilled on the rocks with a
sprinkle of nutmeg if desired.
Notes
Variation 1: Include the egg whites
I don’t use the egg whites, but it is the
traditional way. To use the whites, reserve
1/4 cup of the sugar. Beat egg whites to
soft peaks and then beat in sugar until
stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat
1/2 cup heavy cream. Fold egg whites into
cream and serve on top of eggnog with a
sprinkle of nutmeg.
Variation 2: Cook the eggs
Making a danger-free eggnog is pretty
easy too. Simply follow the same recipe
5.0 from 2 reviews
When ready to serve, simply stir in the
remaining cream and milk, as well as the
bourbon and rum.
Variation 3: Virgin Eggnog
Follow the recipe as directed, omitting the
alcohol and adding an extra 3/4 cup of
whole milk, 3/4 cup of cream and 1-2
tablespoons of rum extract to the mix.
Chill and serve.
