Abstracts should be written in English in MS Word. All texts submitted
must be error free and camera-ready form. Abstracts must be kindly
submitted by e-mail to the Organizing Committee no later than
September 26, 2013.
A lecture room will be equipped with multimedia projector. Requests
for additional equipment should be indicated as a part of the submittal
information of the abstract.

INVITATION
The Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Wroclaw University of
Environmental and Life Sciences in a collaboration with the Institute of
Rock Structure and Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech
Republic, v.v.i., and the Commission of the Geodynamics of the
Committee of Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences are pleased
to extend an invitation to the 14th Workshop on Recent Geodynamics of
the Sudeten and Adjacent Areas that will be held in Jarnołtówek,
Poland, on October 21-23, 2013.
You are hereby invited to contribute your papers to this Workshop,
which will be a unique chance to benefit from its scientific programme,
to have a fruitful exchange of knowledge, to foster new friendships
and to explore the potential of further scientific collaboration.
VENUE AND DATE
Programme of the field session:
The Workshop will be held in Jarnołtówek on October 21-23, 2013.
Jarnołtówek is located in southern part of Opole Province, 24 kilometers
from Nysa. It is located in Opawskie Mountains which is a mountain range
in the Eastern Sudetes in the Czech Republic and Poland. The Polish part
of the range includes the protected area known as Opawskie Mountains
Landscape Park. Area is one of most tectonically active region of Poland,
many of research of seismic activity have been made in that region. In
Nysa (one of the oldest town in Silesia) many of interesting monuments
are located: St Jacobs and Agnes Church, Church bell Tower, Bishop’s
Palace, Tower Gates and many others. Nearby of Nysa two reservoirs are
located: Nyskie Lake with 2 kilometers long and 20 meters high dam and
Otmuchowskie Lake. Nearby Jarnołtówek villages Prudnik and Głuchołazy
are located. In Prudnik many of interesting objects are located: market
square with its medieval character, Town Hall, Baroque set of sculptures,
Gate Tower from 1481, Wok tower from 1262 and church of Saint Michael
the Archangel from 1321.
The main aim of the field session will be visiting the most interesting
places in Nysa and its surroundings. The participants of the workshop will
visit Nysa Lake dam and Nysa old town (including museum).
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME AND PRELIMINARY TIME SCHEDULE
REGISTRATION
The scientific programme of the 14th Workshop proceeds the topics of
the thirteen previous Workshops organized in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002,
2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. It is
focused on the topics concerning the recent mobility of the Sudeten and
adjacent geological units:
Geodesy — crustal movements, GPS observations, precise
levelling, gravity, InSAR technique, the Earth shape
Geology — neotectonics, neo-volcanology, geomorphology, remote
sensing, brittle tectonics
Geophysics — seismology, stress and strain fields, geomagnetism,
geoelectricity, heat flow.

Accepted papers will be published in an international multidisciplinary
journal Acta Geodynamica et Geomaterialia (http://www.irsm.cas.cz).
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for all participants of the Workshop will be arranged
in the hotel located in Jarnołtówek. Double and triple bed rooms
equipped with a bathroom are reserved. There are free parking spaces.
Participants requesting to share a room with certain colleagues,
announce kindly their names to L.O.C.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES
The official languages of lectures of the Workshop will be English,
Czech, Polish and Slovak. The abstract book and papers will be
published in English.
All participants and lecturers attending the Workshop must be
registered. Registration is possible online, by mail or by e-mail till
October 1, 2013.
