Standard/Objective:
6.GM.1 Find the area of right triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or
decomposing into triangles & other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world mathematical
problems.
6.GM.3 Apply the concepts of polygons and the coordinate plane to real-world & mathematical solutions.
a. given coordinates of the vertices, draw a polygon in the same coordinate plane.
b. Find the length of an edge when on the same coordinate plane of x or y.
6.GM.2 Use visual models to discover that the formulas for the volume of a right rectangular prism are the same for
whole or fractional edge lengths.
Plan for the day:
- First Five
-Students will complete a review lesson covering everything we’ve discussed in this unit.
-Students will then complete an informal NEARPOD quiz in order to inform the teacher about their retention & the
ability to move forward.
Assessment:
Teacher Observation/NEARPOD
Integrated Technology: Smartboard/iPad/NEARPOD
Standard/Objective:
6.GM.4 Unfold three-dimensional figures into two-dimensional rectangles & triangles to find the surface area and to
solve real-world mathematical problems.
Plan for the day:
-First Five
-Students will work through an interactive nearpod lesson that will provoke inquiry skills & have open ended
discussion questions.
-Students will complete guided practice while the teacher works in small groups using pre-made graph sheets &
NEARPOD.
-the focus today will be on unfolding these 3-d shapes into nets & labeling their dimensions.
-Students will complete independent practice to provide feed back for the teacher.
-Homework: Small handout provided by the teacher, due Friday.
Assessment:
Teacher Observation/nearpod
Integrated Technology: Smartboard/NEARPOD/ipad
