THE GOOD YOU DO
January 25 — The Conversion of Saint Paul
I kneel before the Father, from Whom every family in heaven
and on earth is named, that He may grant you in accord with the
riches of His glory to be strengthened with power through His
Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have
strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the
breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love
of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with
all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:14-19
As we celebrated the Advent and Christmas seasons, there were
many opportunities to share the blessings we have received. Once
again, in the spirit of good stewardship, you responded with
exceptional generosity in your sharing of time, talent, and treasure.
Listed below are some of the ways you have served our parish and
the greater community by your generous giving.
REST IN PEACE
Please pray for those who have died, especially:
Walter Haertsch, brother of Oscar Haertsch
Sr. M. Jude Sutak, SS.C.M.
Janice D. McGee, mother of Amy Calderone

JOIN in the worldwide mission of Jesus!
By our Baptism, we are all missionaries -- called to share our faith in
Jesus Christ with our family and friends, with our neighbors, indeed,
with the whole world.
Next Sunday, we are invited to make a special commitment as
missionaries. We are invited to join in the worldwide mission of Jesus
by joining the Propagation of the Faith.
In making this commitment, we pledge to…
✙ PRAY daily for the missionary work of the Church, offering our
personal crosses for missionaries and those they serve.
✙ OFFER REGULAR FINANCIAL HELP in support of those who
bring the “Good News” of Jesus to our brothers and sisters throughout
the Missions.
Please say “yes” to this special missionary call next weekend.
Envelopes are available for your mission gift. Thank you very much!
A Taxing Topic…
2009 Tax Contribution Statements will be mailed to all
contributing parishioners by the end of January 2010. There is no
need to request a statement this year.

URGENT NEED! The Knights of Columbus and
Columbiettes are collecting men's and women's
size large and extra large coats, as well as blankets
for the Silence of Mary Home. This is an urgent
need for them as they supply many homeless in the
area with items to help them survive this cold weather. Please
drop items off in Brindle Hall after Masses THIS
WEEKEND. Your help is greatly appreciated.
BUILDING
MONITORS
NEEDED: Saint Joseph Parish is in need
of Building Monitors to provide for the
safety and security of our children during
various evening activities. Commitment is
one to two days per month for a few hours. Monitors work in
teams of two. Our Building Monitor Coordinator, Jon (Pete)
Alvarez (Phone: 761-2152) will have additional information in
the Narthex after Masses THIS WEEKEND. Your assistance
with this ministry is greatly appreciated.
CANTORS: Presently we are seeking individuals who
may be interested in serving as cantor at Sunday / Holy
Day liturgies. A working understanding of music reading
is desirable but not absolutely necessary if you are

involved in the ministry is totally up to the individual.
If you are interested in serving as a cantor, please see
Mike Davis following Sunday Mass. In addition, you may

THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
Adult Education Bible Study – The Book of Job: This winter
we will be offering an 8-part study of the Book of Job, published by
Little Rock Scripture Studies. The Book of Job speaks eloquently of
the mystery of human suffering, providing fertile ground for
discussion and spiritual growth. And you do not need to be a
scripture scholar to study it! The materials we use are very thorough,
and provide a great mix of educational and life-application content.
Date/Time: Tuesdays, February 2—March 23;
7:00 – 8:30 PM
Location:
Parish Life & Education Center,
Rm. 218 - Library
The fee for the study is $15, which includes the cost for materials.
Complete the form below and return it to the parish office by
Monday, January 25. Questions, contact Mary Vukelich at 766-9433.

Connections
Resilience!
Resilience — sounds good, doesn’t it? We’d all love to be
able to cope with our challenges; to bounce back after a struggle or
disappointment. On Thursday, January 28 at 7:30 PM in Brindle
Hall, Saint Joseph School’s guidance counselor Joletta Nebel will
give a presentation on resilience — how to recognize it in yourself
and how to build it in the lives of your family members. This topic is
of particular interest to families of children who struggle with
attention, behavioral or learning differences, but all parents can
benefit and are encouraged to attend!
Please complete the registration form below and submit it to the
parish office, Attn: Mary Vukelich. Please call Mary at 766-9433 with
any questions. Call at least a week in advance if you have child care
needs.
