The thermometer below shows some typical temperatures in both
Celsius and Fahrenheit. For example, comfortable room temperature is about
20 oc or 68 °F, and normal body temperature is about 37 oc or 98.6 °F.

KING HEROD DIES (Test 9)
POISONED CHOCOLATE MILK SUSPECTED
KING HEROD DIED MONDAY DRINKING CHOCOLATE MILK is another Mnemonic whidl
we use to remember the sequence of the prefixes of the metric system. A mnemonic is a fancy
name we give to a device which aids memory. Or consider it as something stupid which helps
us to remember something important. We will start with the metric measure for distance-a

Now you're probably wondering, "What's this for?" I'm so glad you asked. The mnemonic" King
Herod Died Monday Drinking Chocolate Milk" is an aid to remembering the order (from largest
to smallest) of the prefixes of the metric system. When this is paired with a number line it can be
used to change measurement units within the metric system. This is not the only way, but we
think it is the simplest and quickest.
EXAMPLE 1: Suppose we needed to change 35 centimeters( em) to millimeters(mm).

To go from centimeters to millimeters on the number line, we move one place to the right. So
simply move the decimal 1 place to the right.
35. centimeters becomes 350 millimeters
EXAMPLE 2: Change 15.6 centimeters to meters .

To go from centimeters to meters on the number line, we move 2 places to the left. So simply
move the decimal 2 places to the left.

15.6 centimeters becomes 0.156 meters
EXAMPLE 3: Change 1.78 kilometers to meters.

To go from kilometers to meters on the number line, we move 3 places to the right. So we
simply move the decimal 3 places to the right.
1.78 kilometers becomes 1780 meters
To do metric weight measurement, change "Meter'' to "Gram" and use the same number line.
