NOTE
(1) Average values evaluated from ZS Srl quality control rod of 50x50 mm that is molded and sintered according to the following conditions:
- pre-forming pressure = 30 Mpa (for all PTFE virgin grades and compounds with filler content = 10%)
- pre-forming pressure = 50 Mpa (for compounds with filler content > 10%)
- total sintering cycle = 15 hours with 2 hours and 40 min. at max. temperature of 370°C (In case of compounds with fillers like conductive carbon,
moly, PI, PPS, PEEK and Ekonol / Sumikasuper the max. temperature is set at 365°C)
(2) Tensile Strength and Elongation at break are measured in cross direction (CD) from 1,0 mm thickness cut disk

PTFE Compound
Recommended processing conditions
The mechanical vibration involved during transport, combined with too high temperatures or prolonged storage period at high
temperatures can lead the powder to agglomerate inside the package. Therefore in such cases it is a good practice to store the material at
least 48 hours before processing to cool down at 23°C. In the severe event should be advisable to sieve the powder with a net of 4 mm
before filling the mold. The best compression molding results can be achieved when temperature range and moisture content are
respectively within 20-25°C and 45-55%. Further, compression molding below 20°C should be avoided because of the PTFE transition
point at 19°C.
For instance a sealed cardboard box or a plastic drum with 25 Kg of virgin PTFE powder at starting temperature of 8°C need about 3 days
in a room at 24°C to reach 20°C in the core of the bulk.
As a guideline here below there are general conditions for molding small-medium size items (max. O. D. 200 mm.):
- Compaction speed = 50-60 mm/min.
- Pre-forming speed = 30-40 mm/ min.
- Dwell time at max pressure = 1,0-1,5 min / 10 mm height
- Pre-forming pressure = 20-30 MPa (25-35 MPa for compounds) Within the suggested ranges can be applied higher pressure for smaller
diameter and the reverse for larger diameter.
- Pressure release time = 3-10 min (according to wall thickness and height)
- Mould tolerances = 0,3 mm on the radius
The above recommendations are heavily dependent from the ratio diameter/height, wall thickness for billets and amount and type of
fillers.

Packaging supply
All virgin PTFE free-flow and pre-sintered grades and all compound grades are packaged in moisture and dust proof double PE liners
inside a cardboard box.
Cardboard box amount: 15 Kg
Quantity per pallet: 540-600 Kg
Only virgin PTFE not free-flow grades are packaged in cardboard box of 25Kg and the quantity per pallet is 500 Kg.
ZS Srl can also supply all virgin PTFE grades and all compound grades in plastic drums of 25 Kg and the quantity per pallet is 300 Kg.
Storage conditions
All virgin PTFE and compound grades if properly held in the sealed original package in a clean and dry place at temperature below 30°C
they can be stored for a relatively long period of time (Generally 6-12 months in relation to nature of the fillers present in the compound).
Safety and handling precautions
Before use the powder ask to ZS Srl the Material Safety Data Sheet for the specific grade with detailed information.
