Day 5 Thursday 2nd January 2014
Day 5 and National competition is going strong with CL Speed finishing at the Control Line Hard
Standing at TCMAC. Today we have the start of the APA (aerobatics) at TCMAC, Glider in F5J at the Holt Field
(Behind TCMAC) and CL Combat at Murray Field. The weather continues to be favourable for most disciplines
with F5J Glider finding the conditions at their field challenging as they try to complete their flying tasks.
The APA was in full swing going through their schedules. If aerobatics is your thing, then watching these
graceful machines is something to see. The combination of pilot skill and model accounts for the precise
manoeuvres that are needed. At the gilder field the high tech carbon fibre glider was mixing it with the Radian
glider. It was great to see two different types of models do their thing. The adrenalin pumping combat was all
go with a number of rounds completed. Apart from the streamer cuts, there was some physical contact
between models. But all good as the mechanics were on hand for a quick fix and engine start.
Combined Speed and Jet, followed by F2A Speed.
Behind the fence was a good option as some of these
models are travelling in access of 270 kph.
Hanging on to the centre pole is a good option in F2A
Speed. Graham Wilson was the CD for the event and
was completed by 12:00 pm today.

F5J CD Alan Mayhew preparing to launch his best.
Conditions were challenging with times up and
down for each round. There were Radian gliders as
well which flew very well considering what they
were competing with.
A small crowd but a good crowd at the glider field everyone was having a good time putting their skills
to the test.
