REPORT FROM YOUR
COUNTY COUNCILOR
 At County Hall the Conservatives are now working on next year’s
budget. There is a projected £22m overspend in the current financial
year caused by the Labour/UKIP/Lib Dem/ Green alliance failing to get
a grip on the councils finances, allowing services to freely overspend
safe in the knowledge that they would be bailed out by reserves
during the year. The Conservatives are insisting that all departments
who are overspent must have a plan to get back on track by the year
end.
Devolution latest:The outcomes of the Norfolk & Suffolk Devolution consultation are
now in the hands of the Secretary of State. In the next few weeks, the
participating councils will make a decision on whether to go ahead.
Drainage works:I thank everybody for their patience and understanding during the
upheaval caused by the roadworks whilst the essential drainage works
was taking place. This work is now coming to an end. The contractors
compound on the green at Foxburrow Road is being removed, the
green will be levelled and reseeded. I have been assured that all roads
that were dug up to facilitate this work will be surface dressed in the
Spring.
John Ward - County Councillor for Sprowston
I am also chairman of the Norfolk Joint Museums Committee
looking after our 10 museums. The biggest current project is
Norwich Castle Keep where we are planning to reinstate the layout
and decoration of the royal palace it once was in 1121 when King
Henry 1 stayed. This project will transform the Keep and has huge
potential to attract visitors from across the UK and beyond.
Cllr John Ward
I am currently Vice Chairman of Norfolk County Council and have been
pleased to represent the people of Norfolk at a number of events in
recent weeks :-




The East Cost Truckers Convoy
The commemoration of the 350th Anniversary of the Great fire
of London.

SECURING BETTER
TRANSPORT IN SPROWSTON
John has been out canvassing this month
in Cannerby Lane. The Co-Op store on the
site of the old Beehive Pub is now well
established and is considered by most as a
vital asset to the community.
Sprowston Conservatives would like to
take this opportunity to congratulate local
MP Chloe Smith and her husband Sandy
on the birth of their child. We wish all
three of them every success for the future.
The Northern Distributor Road is taking
shape along it's entire length and is on
schedule for completion by the end of
2017. This project will take a lot of pressure off other roads in Sprowston and will
give much improved journey times.
