Pararowing News and Accomplishments
Hurricane Shutters
The Center just completed
installation of accordion
hurricane shutters in a
color that blends in with the
aesthetics of the facility on
the O'Connell Boathouse
and the first floor of the
main building. The second
floor has impact resistant
glass. The new shutters
will allow the club to be
storm-ready in a more
efficient and timely
manner, providing more
time to secure other
outdoor equipment.
Our Adaptive rowers took the opportunity to participate in
two regattas back to back this summer: US Rowing
Masters Nationals on the Cooper River, Camden , NJ on
August 13-15, 2015 and Bayada Regatta, the longestrunning adaptive rowing regatta in the country, on
the Schuylkill River, Philadelphia, PA on August 15,

The Bucs won both the Varsity 4+ and 8+ finals, finishing
ahead of runner-up Mercyhurst in both races on the Lake
Natoma course. In the Varsity 8+ race Barry pulled away
from the field to win the Grand Final by over eight
seconds, claiming the National Championship in
dominating fashion. Congratulations Bucs!
Summer Camp success for all!
Under the direction of Head Coach Vladimir Matovic,
MBRC held our most successful and highest
attended summer camp yet.
Four weeks of camp
brought an average
attendance of 50 kids each
week. The kids were excited
to learn and improve their
skills and the additional
income allowed us to
purchase two lightly used
4+'s and two sets of sweep oars from UM for the club. A
win-win for all!
Martinez Family Trophy Donation
The Martinez Family recently donated
a trophy to US Rowing for the SE
Youth Regionals Mens Lwt 2x Event.
The trophy honors Alex Martinez and
Jules Kramer's first place win of the
event in May 2015. It is named The
Martinez-Kramer Trophy and it will be
displayed in our club's Trophy Case
until next year. Congratulations to Alex and Jules and best
wishes for another successful season!
