There will be comprehension and vocabulary quizzes on Monday on chapters 1-4 and Thursday on chapters 5-8. The “Tuff” posters/collages are due Wednesday. Please continue your AR reading . 8th Grade Language Arts: A DOL Quiz (Week 27) is scheduled for Thursday. Spelling skills pages 222-224 from Review Unit 36 are due Friday. We will continue reviewing verbals. There will be a test on infinitives, gerunds, and participles on Tuesday. Also, we’ll begin reviewing parts of speech. 7M Math Literature: Students will continue reading Across Five Aprils. There will be a comprehension and vocabulary quiz Tuesday on chapters 8 and 9. The vocabulary packets are due Friday. Please continue AR reading. Non-Jazz Art (Mondays and Thursdays only): Students will begin work on a color unit. A Color Test is scheduled for Thursday. Students will also work on a color/line project. **HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all you wonderful moms and grandmothers!! The Band Played On– Mrs. Henrichs The spring band and chorus concert is this Thursday, May 14th at 7:00. There will also be an afternoon matinee at 1:00 on May the 13th. Students should dress nicely and be in their seats by 6:30 pm for Thursday’s performance. All 8th grade students and their parents will be recognized at the concert Thursday evening. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email the school. Shapin’ Up with Shubert -PE & Health All classes have finished their health units for the 4th quarter. PE classes will be outside as much as possible, please have appropriate shoes and uniforms. When the grass lot is dry enough we will be having our golf unit. I provide the clubs and wiffle golf balls. This equipment is on loan from the high schools, please respect their property and treat it properly. Have a great weekend! Mr. Gabler’s History Classes 6th Social Studies: We will continue on Chapter 18 and discuss the rise of Countries throughout Europe. 7th Social Studies: We will discuss Gettysburg and Vicksburg and the downfall of the Confederacy after those battles. Gettysburg Address is due on the 15th. 8th Grade Social Studies: We will discuss The Nixon Presidency and see how Watergate changed politics in America. Mrs. Varel’s Variety 6 LA: We will begin a parts of speech unit next week. A noun, pronoun, and verb quiz will be on Friday.
