FACULTY VACANCIES – Assistant & Associate
Southern University at New Orleans School of Social Work is seeking to fill 2 tenuretrack faculty positions at the Assistant and Associate rank. Expected beginning date is
fall 2013. We seek candidates who have a strong desire to contribute to the School of
Social Work and the redevelopment of the city of New Orleans. The School offers the
BSW and MSW degrees and currently has approximately 700 students combined. Both
the BSW and MSW Programs are fully accredited by CSWE. Each is accredited until
2020. Our mission is to provide quality educational experiences with a commitment on
addressing the strengths of and challenges for an ethnic and diverse client population in a
challenging and evolving global community. The themes of our program are advocacy,
empowerment and transformation and the MSW concentrations are 1) Children Youth
Families and 2) Health Mental Health.

Candidates must have a doctorate in social work or in a related field and a master’s
degree in social work. A record of scholarly productivity, research funding, and teaching
in social work are expected for applicants. A demonstrated commitment to social work
practice in urban environments as demonstrated through teaching, publications, research
and/or practice is required. Special consideration will be given to candidates with
teaching expertise in the areas of policy and research. Experience in one or more of the
following concentration areas is also expected: Children Youth and Families, Health
Mental Health.
