Literary Terms
Sub genres
Illustrate each literary sub genre with symbols, pictures or quotes from a story,
novel or poem that belong to that subgenre. Quotes must include the title of the
work you are citing in parentheses. Your illustration must clearly show your
understanding of the concept.
Allegory
Satire
A story, poem, or picture that can be
interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning,
typically a moral or political one.
A text or performance that uses irony, derision,
or wit to expose or attack human vice,
foolishness, or stupidity.
Parody
Pastoral literature
An imitation of the style of a particular writer,
artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration
for comic effect.
A pastoral poem or piece of literature that
depicts rural life in a peaceful, idealized way, for
example of shepherds or country life.
