Assessing Trait Emotional Intelligence in Organisations

Assessing Trait
Emotional
Intelligence in
Organisations
Incorporating TEIQue™ accreditation
Become licensed to assess emotional intelligence, using the
TEIQue™ – the cutting-edge measure of Emotional
Intelligence.
NEW programme
You will be equipped in how to use TEIQue and Emotional
Intelligence in general, in an organisational context.
A golden opportunity to bring emotional intelligence tools
and methodologies into your organisational work.
This programme is delivered by key pioneers in the
Emotional Intelligence field.
Ei World is an approved centre for accreditation in Trait Emotional
Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue), the cutting edge of Emotional
Intelligence Assessments.
TEIQue is the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, authored by K.V.
Petrides, and a trademark of Thomas International.
Why the TEIQue?
The TEIQue has clear conceptual and psychometric advantages over the many
emotional intelligence tools widely available in the market. While these are easy to
explain to psychometricians, it is not always straightforward to describe to
practitioners.
Commercial test publishers simply cannot afford to provide sustained research
funding for the measures they market. Consequently, instruments “developed” in
commercial settings or owned by commercial companies cannot compete on
research quality with instruments developed in universities or hospitals and owned
by their authors.
The TEIQue is underpinned by a leading international research programme currently
based at University College London, led by K.V. Petrides.
To date, thousands of individuals have been profiled on the various forms and
translations of the TEIQue. If you are interested in assessing the emotion-related
aspects of personality, the TEIQue instruments provide a scientific alternative.
Research using the TEIQue has been conducted in over 40 different countries
(including the countries whose flags appear below) and translations have been
completed in 12 different languages.
This tool has particular relevance for executive coaching, personal coaching,
leadership development, employee engagement and employer brand.

Defining Trait Emotional Intelligence
Trait emotional intelligence covers perception of how well we deal with emotions.
These perceptions play a critical role in our thoughts, feelings and behaviours & therefore
influence our effectiveness and performance in everyday life.
(Bharwaney, 2012)
Why Ei World chooses the TEIQue for individual
emotional intelligence assessments, above other
similar assessments?
Research Programme
The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) is a product of the worldrenowned London Psychometric Laboratory based at University College London (UCL), the
birthplace of psychometrics. It is among a very small number of psychometric instruments
still under the control of its original developer and linked to an active scientific research
program.
The Author /Researcher - Dr K.V. Petrides
K. V. Petrides is among the most highly cited psychologists of his generation in the
scientific literature primarily due to his work on trait emotional intelligence.
Validity
The validation of the TEIQue is being reported in peer-reviewed scientific journals (as
distinct from business reports, brochures, editorials, paperbacks, internet websites, etc.). It
is the most extensively validated EI measure in the scientific literature. Studies have been
reporting strong findings in many different fields (including medical applications) over a
period of about 15 years.
Reliability
Reliability indices are virtually always robust across all levels of the instrument (facet,
factor, and global) and even on very small samples.
Comparison with other Ei tools
The TEIQue has outperformed all EI measures (on mental health) against which it has
been compared in independent peer-reviewed studies, including in one major metaanalysis by Martins et al. (2010).
Cross-Cultural Applicability of the tool
The TEIQue is available in over 20 languages worldwide with many adaptations reported in
scientific journal publications. Commercial sales seem to have relied virtually exclusively
on the scientific strengths and presence of the instrument, with minimal marketing
investment.
Expanding use of the tool
Currently about 2000 TEIQues are being completed each month and the instrument is in
the process of being rolled out globally through Thomas International.
