H
ow do I enroll?
CMSD allows students to attend the
high schools of their choice, regardless of
location. Generally, students who apply to a
school will be chosen at random for
admission and placed on a waiting list if seats
are filled. If demand is high at some schools,
priority may be given to students who live in
the area.
Students seeking to attend the three high
schools at the John Hay Campus, ClevelandBard Early College High School, Cleveland
School of the Arts @Harry E. Davis and
Whitney M. Young Leadership Academy
must meet selective-admission
requirements.
STEM schools adopted different type of
enrollment methods; lottery method,
application and interview process. PreK-8
STEM schools are open enrollment. Please
contact the school of choice and inquire
about all necessary information:

Can my child transfer in at any point of
the year?

Can siblings attend the same school if
one of them is accepted there?

Is there limit to how many students per
grade?
W
ho do I contact?
Each STEM school has established
their own unique requirements, we highly
recommend that you contact the school of
choice and inquire about all necessary
information.

Transportation eligibility is based on the distance
from the home residence to the school. Students in
grades Kindergarten through 8th must live 1.00 mile
or more from their assigned school to receive some
form of transportation service. Students in grades 9
through 12 must live 3 miles or more from their assigned school to receive transportation. (RTA tickets
or identification swipe cards are provided for this
group.)
To help students reach high schools across the District, the Board of Education provides free transportation through the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Students who live at least a halfmile from school can ride RTA with an identification
card issued by the District. The cards may be used
from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on school days.
