The Tenacious Tyrant TRex

 The Tenacious Tyrant TRex
By: Joshua Teller Hi, come with me while I take you into the world of the TRex. I’m going to teach you all about the amazing TRex. I only have one question for you. Are you ready to meet the lizard king?
What is the TRex? Tyrannosaurus rex means “tyrant lizard king.” It is 40 feet long,1520 feet tall and weighs 57 tons! It was a carnivore. Carnivore means meat eater. It lived in the cretaceous period. The cretaceous period was 65.5 million years ago. It had a 5 foot scull. All about the TRex running It is hard to tell how fast they ran because they lived so long ago. So, all we know is that they ran no more than 20 mph. If they fell while running their arms wouldn’t break their fall because there arms are too short.

They would seriously injure themselves. Their stride was about 1.78 meters long How did they become extinct? Almost 66 million years ago an asteroid that was about 46 miles in diameter collided with the earth and killed all sorts of animals including the TRex. It also could have caused tsunamis, tornados, thunderstorms, rain and hail. That’s one heck of an asteroid! What did it eat and how did it get it’s food? It ate the Edmontosaurus, Anatosaurus, Triceratops and other dinosaurs. Also, they sometimes even ate each other! It used it’s big and strong tail, it’s teeth and it’s size. How did the TRex defend itself? It’s huge teeth were a very good source of defence. Imagine 12,800 lbs crushing you! Each TRex had 5060 teeth in its mouth at one time. Each tooth is about 9 inches long. If one tooth fell out another one would just grow back quickly. Its jaw was about 4 feet long! So, overall the TRex could defend itself very well. Wow, how about that? Isn’t the TRex cool? Can you imagine being face to face with a real TRex? If not, now you can! Look at the next page!!!!
