GREAT AUSSIE BUSH CAMP Ohh, the alarm clock rings

GREAT AUSSIE BUSH CAMP
Ohh, the alarm clock rings continuously next to my head. I lie wondering…why on earth did I put
the alarm clock on? Then I remember. Camp!
I toss off my blanket and quickly get dressed. It is 6.15am in the morning. I eat my breakfast and
brush my teeth.
My dad, sister and I set off for school. It is 7.25am in the morning.
Once we were at school I put my very heavy suitcase on the bus and joined the line. It is 7.35am
in the morning.
I waved goodbye to my dad and chat with my friends. It is 7.45am in the morning.
When bus 2 is called we get on the bus which is very comfy and off we go! It is 8 o’clock.
Three hours later we arrived for the Gold Town tour. We learnt about how gold is formed, where
the mine shafts are and we see where miners lived and worked. It is very interesting. We also
went panning for gold which is really fun.
After gold town we got on the buses and I have a little sleep.
It takes us an hour and a half to get to camp. As soon as I see it I am very excited. I feel bubbles in
my tummy and I am squirming in my seat. It is 4.30pm.
I am now being introduced to our instructors. Blake, Angela and Jason and Mason.
At 5.00pm we head out for BBQ dinner which I am finding very nice. Now it is shower hour and I
have had my shower and am chilling in my cabin. It is 6.30pm.
I am now walking back from the County Fair. My group was in charge of milkshakes. We were a
disaster! We ran out of milk and flavor. Other than that every thing was great. The rides were fun
and the food was good.
Now I am getting ready for bed. I am very tired and worn out. It is 10.00pm.
Wake up, wake up! I am now waking up as you have probably guessed. And am walking out to
breakfast now. Breakfast is yummy and the juice is good. It is 7.00am
It is now 8.00am and I am handing up crates to Codie. Let me explain. Group 2 is doing Crate
Climbing. You have to try and make a crate tower higher than everyone elses. You need to be
pulled up on a rope too. It is so fun!
Now we are having morning tea. Yum. It is 9.45am.
10.15am, raft building. Well you can guess what that is. Well all the rafts sunk and the water is
freezing and I’m not lying.
Lunch time! It’s 12.15pm. We eat at HQ.
At one 15 we went to archery which was really fun. Right now I’m on high ropes. It’s really fun.
Now I’m watching Men In Black 3. We’ve had dinner and are heading to bed soon.
Rise and shine! Angela shouts. She storms into our cabin. Opens a bag of skittles and shouts
“rainbow” as she pours them all in her mouth. It’s a bit weird.
Now we’ve had breakfast and I’m leaning backwards. I am Abseiling!! It’s soooooo fun!
Abseiling was fun but what I just did was much much better. THE GIANT SWING! It is so scary! It
is really high and it is really fun.
We have had lunch now and are in …CANOES! Amara and I are having sooo much fun!!! Someone
jumped in the water but other than that no one capsized or got wet! Yay!
Now what I’ve been looking forward to most. MUD WORLD! It is so cold, fun, exciting, did I
mention COLD! It was fun though. The obstacles were challenging and different. I score it 9 out of
10! It was cold!
I am getting ready for bed now. I have had dinner and done challenge night. Challenge night was
fun. Apart from the part where someone put shaving cream on my face, in my mouth, ears and
eyes. Other than that it was fun! I am tired now and my legs are sore. I need to go to bed.
Morning! I say to my cabin mates. Angela doesn’t wake us up this morning. I have packed my
bags, done orienteering and gone on the Duel Flying Fox. All of which were fun apart from
packing.
I really enjoyed my GREAT AUSSIE BUSH CAMP experience and can’t wait to go again.

As we all had to wake up in the morning to get to school to leave to Great Aussie Bush Camp… but
we all take a little detour to Gold Town. We got to do panning and got to learn about what and
how gold was mined and how to do everything. We all finished up at Gold Town then headed to
camp.
We got to do County Fair. Our group got to do Shoot Out.
On the next day we did canoeing, Lost Island, Giant Swing and Abseiling.
On the next day we had to wake up at 6:30am and get changed to go to breakfast. Then we did
orienteering. Where Pear and his little munchkins came first on every course. 1 and 2 and half
done 3. Later we did raft building then high ropes. We got to do a challenge night. On the first
challenge, Luke and myself did the shaving challenge.
Next day and our last day, we woke up at 6:00am to go to breakfast and to pack up our bags to
put on our bus.
We got to do Dual Flying Fox. Luka and myself went on together which I was frightened of it. On
our first go, Luka ran off then I went after. After Flying Fox, we were on time and we began to
walk to my favourite activity…ARCHERY. We all had a go then Angela thought of a challenge. “Get
in a group of 6 to 7 people. Which ever team wins..gets soft drinks. Sadly, we didn’t win…but
everyone got a drink.
But the saddest thing was that our bestest friend Luke, left Erina Heights to go back to England.

At 7:30am we got to school and put our bags on the coaches. Then departed school to the Gold
Tour. It took roughly three hours. Once we got to do three activities..a gold mine tour, a bush
walk, and watched a video then did some panning for gold.
On the second day the instructors woke us up at 6:30 am and we went to breakfast, There were
eggs, toast, pancakes and spaghetti.
I was in group 2. The first activity group 2 did was crate climb which was super fun. One person
was harnessed on a rope and another person with a helmet and they passed up the crates that
you stand on. The rest of the team pulled the rope to make you higher.
Then we had lunch then the second activity we did was raft building. First we had an action for
what wood, string and tyres we wanted. Once we finished our raft, we put it on the water..one
person sat on…the second person sat on..the third.. and it sank. We had time to swim in the water
but it was too cold so I didn’t swim.
Then we did archery. We got four teams with about 8 people in a team. Sadly, I was not very good
at it, seeing I didn’t hit the target.
Then we went to high ropes which was really high. It was 8 metres. It was super scary and fun. I
did the whole thing but at the end there was a big flying fox that was so fun.
After that we had dinner and showers. Then movie night. We watched Men in Black 3.
The instructors woke us up at 6:30 am..then breakfast at 7 am.
The first activity was abseiling. It was 13 metres high. It was scary but fun. Then we had morning
tea which was snow cones.
We then did the giant swing which was 15 metres high. One person in the group is harnessed on
but the rest of the group pull on a rope which makes you go higher. Then the person at the top
pulls a small rope and whoosh they swing down and keep swinging.
After that we had lunch then canoeing. I went in a canoe with Mrs Hillmann and Lani Fuller. Then
afternoon tea.
Lost Island was a mud run which was relly cold but fun.
Camp was the best camp I have ever been to and I achieved my goals and did everything to the
hardest or the highest point!
