Day of the Seafarer 2013 – 25 June 2013
We have received, from the IMO, a request for support to celebrate the ‘Day of the Seafarer’, that we would like
to share with you.
This years theme; “Faces of the Sea”, aims to spotlight the human face of shipping and the sacrifices that
seafarers make, to provide us all with the vital supplies the world economy needs to function.
The ITF will undoubtedly support the efforts of the IMO to promote the seafarers on the day and will ensure
that a broad public platform is given, to the men and women at sea.
The Secretariat will work on the ITF web page to disseminate the information of the campaign across our
network and will display the ‘Day of the Seafarer’ logo to show our support however, we also ask that you help
us to mark the day and let your members know about it…

In addition the IMO would welcome any photos of seafarers or, popular products carried on their ships, posted
on an IMO social channel. Instructions on how to do this and other ideas on how to raise awareness and support
for the ‘Day of the Seafarer’, are contained in the toolkit we have attached to this circular. (Annex 1)
