St. John’s Lutheran Elementary School School News Weekly Take Home Letter Volume 11, Issue 32 April 15, 2013 General News 2013-2014 Fees and Tuition Increases: As approved by the Board of Education (BOE) of St. John’s, the upcoming school year will see the following monetary increases: Fees: Preschool for Threes and Fours—$50 K-8—$200 Tuition: Preschool for Threes—$250 School Make-Up Dates: St. John’s Lutheran School will be utilizing the May 8, inservice day (late start) as a make-up day. No busing will be provided in the morning, but regular busing will be available in the afternoon. Also, Friday, May 3, and Monday, May 6, will be make-up days as well. Busing will not be available on Friday, May 3, nor will there be hot lunch. A cold lunch will be required of each student. Regular busing and hot lunch will be available on Monday, May 6. If rides to and/or from school are an issue, please contact Mr. Wieting. Thanks for your understanding! 3rd Quarter Report Cards and Parent/Teacher Conferences: If you have not yet returned your student’s report card envelope, please do so as soon as possible. Also, conferences for the 3rd Quarter have come and gone. Thank you for your willingness to meet and discuss your child’s education. Please know that the teachers’ doors are always open to you and your concerns and questions. Spirit Week: Coming home with today’s School News is the schedule of events for Spirit Week at St. John’s Lutheran School. Please note the Parent/Grandparent Meal sign-up for Wednesday, April 24. To help plan for this meal, return the appropriate form by Friday, April 19. Christian Education Society: On Sunday, April 21, the Christian Education Society (CES) will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 11:45 A.M. The agenda will consist of a potluck (bring a dish to pass) and a planning meeting. We look forward to seeing all of you there! Musical Practice: Practice for the musical for all students in grades K through 8 will be every Monday and Wednesday (from 2:45-3:45) in April until Entertainment Evening on April 26. The preschoolers can join in on musical practice on April 22 and April 24. Dress rehearsal for all students will be on April 26 at 9:00. Musical Attire: Costumes for the musical will be provided, but all students should have a short sleeve t-shirt and a pair of shorts to wear under the costume. They will also need dark colored sandals, preferably not flip flops. Lakeside Fine Arts Music Festival: Thank you to all the students who participated in the Lakeside Music Festival this weekend! You represented your school and Lord well! The band placed 1st in their judging and the choir also placed 1st. Congratulations. Novel: This Wednesday our class will begin studying its second novel of the year, Across Five Aprils, by Irene Hunt. Story: Muncha Muncha Muncha Invitation Each Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. St. John’s students and faculty gather together in the church proper for a morning chapel service. An offering plate is available for anyone to place their gifts in it. This year the students have chosen to send their offerings to Peace Lutheran Preschool in Holiday, Florida. They are planning on opening an Early Childhood Ministry in 2013. Second Quarter offerings totaled $42.79. We look forward to you joining us.
