PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
What a wonderful celebration of our children’s learning we had last
night. It was great to have so many families join us for our Parent
Evening. I was proud of the way the children were able to share their
learning and knowledge of Digital Technologies with their families.
Thank you for the positive feedback about our event. Congratulations
also to our year 4 -6 students who have finished their Digital Licences.
It is a lengthy process to complete the licence with 8 separate units of
work around keeping ourselves safe online.
Tuesday we had a great day up in the snow. I have heard many
wonderful stories of the fun that was had up on the mountain at Falls
Creek. Thank you to the parents who accompanied us on our Snow
Fun Day.
Next week will be a very busy week! Tuesday we will have our last
session for NRL and Milo Cricket. Wednesday afternoon will be our
Chinese Showcase. It would be great to have families join us to see
what the children have been working on this year. Then Friday we
have our last day of term. We will have a hot dog lunch to celebrate.
Kind Regards,
Sue McDonald.

NRL Coaching
As part of our PE program, students have been learning ball handling and tactical skills associated with
NRL. We have been fortunate to have a professional NRL coach visit us once a week for the past 3 weeks
to coach us in Rugby League. Our students have learnt many ways of passing the ball, catching the ball
and deceiving the opposition. Just a reminder that our final NRL lesson will be next Tuesday the 13th
of September. Please bring runners to school.
Whole School Snow Day
Our visit to Falls Creek for a day of play and exploration in the snow was
FANTASTIC! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The students
enjoyed their time in the snow building snow men, throwing snow balls
at the adults, painting with food dye on the snow, creating make shift
toboggan runs, taking a ride on the chair lift, building igloos and playing
under the parachute. Thank you to our adult helpers Scott McKillop,
Adam Walker and Narelle Jones for assisting on the day and ensuring
our children stayed safe and sound.
F – 3 Poetry Writing
Our poetry writing unit is coming to an end and we are so proud of our achievements. To date we have
written rhyming poems, acrostic poems, alliterations, shape poems and I wish poems. Some of these are
up on display for you to see. When writing our shape poems about snails we included facts and adjectives
about our subject, whilst our little people comprise of an alliteration poem about ourselves, and acrostic
poems on the arms and legs about each member in our buddy group.
A quick note on the Father's Day aprons.
Having been painted with fabric paint we needed to set this by applying heat, which we did at school.
Just to make sure that all paint was properly cured and does not come off when you wash the aprons
please do the following:
1- Preheat your oven to 120C
2- Put the apron on a large cookie sheet and place in the oven for 5-10 minutes
3 - Remove and let it cool down completely
When you wash the apron the 1st time, use a mild detergent on a delicate, low heat washing cycle
and wash only the apron, so any potential paint loss does not damage other clothes!
