History: In 1953 it became the State Tree of Ohio. An experienced tree trimmer told the
owner that the tree is the largest Buckeye in Greene County, Ohio. The house was built in
1870 and is in the Bullskin Trace Neighborhood.

History: The trees were planted at the same time as the house was built in 1881 by John
Allen, who was a banker and Ohio Legislative representative. The house is located in the
East Second Historic District, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Diameter (DBH): 36 inches. Height: 60 feet (topped). Age: approx 60-80 years
History: The tree survived major tornados and the construction of an adjacent high-rise
building for senior housing. The tree must have been in existence at the time this
structure was built in 1959. The property is located in the Waterstreet Historic District
which is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Diameter (DBH): 36 inches. Height: 90 feet. Age: approx 80 years (after 1926).
History: The tree has attractive blooms in the spring and is a host for the caterpillars of
the beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio glaucus) which can be seen
flying in summer. It survived the 1974 tornado and is located on land originally owned by
Silas Roberts who settled in Xenia in 1808. His grandson Samuel Ewing died on 6 Oct
1917 in the nearby Roberts Villa (destroyed in the tornado and replaced by the Masonic
Lodge) after which F.W. Dodds divided the estate into lots to be sold off for housing.

History: The tree was most likely planted by Hansford Jackson who worked as an
horticultural supervisor at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphanage from 1942 to 1968
according to his granddaughter, Roberta Brown, who lives at the Legacy Village.
History: The Shingle Oak was on the site when the house was built in 1954 and was a
sizable tree at that time.

History: Cliff Olt, Xenia businessman, dug up the Pin Oak as a sapling in his native
Indiana and gave it to the Agnors who planted it in their garden.
History: The sugar maple was on the site when the house was built in 1954 and was a
sizable tree at that time.

Diameter (DBH): 37 inches. Height: 50 feet. Age: approx 60-80 years
This tree has codominant trunks which required the DBH to be measured below the forks
History: The tree survived the 1974 tornado and graces Franklin Park being visible from
Dayton Avenue. Franklin Park was carved out of the Layne Addition Subdivision and
deeded to Xenia to be used as a park for that neighborhood. This is a beautiful ash tree
which may be worth saving from the Emerald Ash Borer with appropriate treatment.

History: This tree survived rail traffic (when the rail transportation was active in Xenia),
major tornados, the construction of Nick’s Restaurant and the bike path. It now provides
shade to the outdoor patio of the restaurant.
