Study in Angers, France Meredith College

Why study in Angers?
You love France and the French language. You
are working along on a French minor at Meredith College and wish to take advantage of a
study opportunity in a French atmosphere.
You want to discover French culture in
France and to see for yourself, up-close, the
places you’ve only read or dreamed about
until now. Dozens of Meredith College students have ‘lived French’ in Angers, and you
can do it, too. Learn in courses at the CIDEF
and have your course credits transferred
back to Meredith College. Learn about life in
France with your French family and as you
navigate ordering in a café, reserving a rail
ticket or checking out a club with friends.

Excursions
In Angers, students choose or are placed in
courses depending on placement test results. In
summer, students normally complete 7 c.h. of
course work in French:
The CIDEF (‘see-deaf’)
Most Meredith College women who study
French language and culture in France follow a program at our partner institution,
the CIDEF, in Angers, France. The Centre
International d’Etudes Françaises is an
institute of the Université Catholique de
l’Ouest. Since 1986, nearly 100 Meredith
College students have travelled to the CIDEF
to discover France. Meredith College students travel alone, in pairs or in small
groups.
Housing and meals
Most Meredith College women choose to
live with a family in Angers during their
program of study, but private apartments
and ‘residence hall’-style housing are also
available. Meredith College students may
share meals with their French family, cook
for themselves, or take meals in a university-style cafeteria, or a combination of
these.

Angers is located in northwestern France, roughly half-way
between Paris and the Atlantic coast. From Angers, you can
reach Paris in under 90 minutes by high-speed rail. Angers is a
beautiful city of music, flowers, history, and technology. Its
treasures include a medieval castle, tapestries, and fine Renaissance architecture. Does Angers have a 21st-century tramway?
