City of Leawood Job Announcement #16-006 Posting Date: January 4, 2016 Position: Communications Officer Starting Rate of Pay: $16.88/hour Closing Date: January 15, 2016 Department: Police Department Job Summary: The Communications Officer assists in the communications operations of the Police Department. Receives all incoming 9-1-1 emergency calls, non-emergency dispatch calls and calls on the police administrative lines, using proper techniques and procedures. Enters and modifies records on computer terminal through REGIS and NCIC. Uses radio and computer aided dispatch systems to prioritize and assign calls for service. Education and/or Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education and have experience with computers. Due to the large volume of data entry, a typing test may be required. Prior dispatching experience and/or working in a shift type schedule environment is preferred, but not required. Starting rate of pay is $16.88/hour with an excellent benefits package. Employees may be eligible to progress through the appropriate Career Development program. City of Leawood does not have a City residency requirement.
