Target group of pupils Predicted Impact Year 4 and 5 taught for 1 hour a week by a chess teacher to develop logic and problem solving skills. Year 4 Children will develop problem solving skills and take part in chess tournament against other schools. All children from Year 1 to 6 learn an instrument and play as part of an ensemble/orchestra developing a range of skills including listening, appreciating and mathematical skills such as counting and reading music. 2-3 to Year 6 Develop aspirations, give children chance to develop skills beyond the curriculum and promote success. Chess Total: £1,700 Barrier to learning – Year 5 Limited aspirations and chance to learn skills outside of curriculum. In Harmony Total: £15,000 Barrier to learning – Limited life experiences and low aspirations From 2-3 to year 2 take part in additional musicianship lessons which supports skills in phonics and mathematics.
