Clause 106 - Designation
Delete what is written in the Clause and substitute with:
The designation of the coating shall be composed of the details
indicated in Clauses 106.1 up to 106.5, written in order from
left to right.
.106.1 - Nickel plus chromium coatings 106.1.1 - The chemical symbol of the basis metal, as indicated
in Table 3 (Clause 106.3}.
If the basis metal is an alloy, the symbol shall refer
to the main metal component of the alloy. The symbol shall
be followed by an oblique stroke.
106.1.2 - The chemical symbol "Ni" to designate nickel.
106.1.3 - The minimum thickness of the nickel layer (micrometres).
106.1.4 - A letter identifying the type of nickel layer (in
accordance with Clause 106.4).
106.1.5 - The chemical symbol "Cr" to designate chromium.
106.1.6 - A letter or a group of letters to identify the type
of chromium layer (in accordance with Clause 106.5).
106.2 - Copper plus nickel plus chromium coatings 106.2.1 - The chemical symbol of the basis metal, as indicated
in Table 3 (Clause 106.3).
If the basis metal is an alloy, the symbol shall refer
to the main metal component of the alloy. The symbol
shall be followed by an oblique stroke.
106.2.2 - The chemical symbol "Cu" to indicate copper.

Nickel layer - The letters for the designation of the type
of the nickel layer shall be as follows:
106.4.1 - The letter "b" to indicate bright nickel.
106.4.2 - The letter "p" to indicate either "dull nickel or
semi-bright nickel.
106.4.3 ‫ ־‬The letter "d" to indicate a double layer of nickel.
106.4.4 ‫ ־‬The letter "t" to indicate a triple layer of nickel<-,>.
106.5 - Chromium layer - The letters for the designation of the
type of the chromium layer shall be as follows:

106.5.1 ‫ ־‬The letter "r" to indicate regular chromium, having a
minimum thickness of 0.3 micrometres.
106.5.2 - The letter "f" to indicate chromium free from cracks, having
a minimum thickness of 0.8 micrometres.
106.5.3 - The letters "mc" to indicate micro-cracked chromium,
having not less than 250 cracks per cm (in all directions)
forming a closed network over the whole of the signicficant
surface, and having a minimum thickness of 0.3

106.5.4 - The indication "mc-8" to indicate micro-cracked chromium,
having not less than 250 cracks per cm (in all directions)
forming a closed network over the whole of the signicicant

106.5.5 - The letters ‫״‬mp" to indicate micro-porous chromium
coating

106.5.6 - The indication
"mp-5" to indicate micro-porous chromium

sq cm and

106.6
- Examples of coatings designation
(a) The designation FE/NI 40 b Cr mc indicates: steel,
coated with a layer of bright nickel, having a minimum
thickness of 40 micrometres and a layer of micro-cracked
chromium, having a minimum thickness of 0.3 micrometres.
(b) The designation FE/CU 20 Ni 25 Cr mc-8 indicates:
steel coated with a layer of copper, having a minimum
thickness of 20 micrometres, a layer of bright nickel,
having a minimum thickness of 25 micrometres and a layer
of micro-cracked chromium, having a minium thickness of
0.8 micrometres.
Clause 202 - Nickel layers
- Delete the Hebrew letter ‫ ״ע״‬in all places of the Clause and
substitute with "p".
(4) This is achieved in this way: By applying to the normal coating of one
of the nickel types, designated "b" or "p" or "d" or "t" a thin special
layer of nickel, containing inert non-conducting particles and coating
this layer with micro-porous chromium.
(5) The micro-porous coating 0.3 micrometres in thickness may loose the
lustre after some time. If this action is undesirable, use micro-porous
coating designated mp-5, not less than 0.5 micrometres in thickness.

- Delete the Hebrew letter "‫ ״ד‬in all places of the Clause and
substitute with "d".
- Delete the Hebrew letter "p" in all places of the Clause
and substitute with "mp".
Clause 204 - Coating thickness
Delete the third sentence of the Clause in page 9 of the
Standard ‫ '""י‬starting from the words "In Tables 4 to 8" up
to the words "or" "‫"ק‬.
Replace the deleted sentence with:
- In all Tables 4 to 8, it is permitted to replace nickel "d"
with nickel "t".
- In all Tables 4 to 8, in service conditions 1 or 2, it is
permitted to replace nickel "b" with nickel ‫״‬p", "d" or "t" and
it is permitted to replace chromium "r" with chromium "f",
"mc" or "mp".
- In the Tables 4 to 8, delete the designations indicated in
the Columns whose headline are "In accordance with this
‫״‬Standard" <‫־‬,"-,.
- In the headlines of Tables 4 to 8 delete the words:
"In accordance with ISO" and "In accordance with this Standard"*
Clause 206 ‫ ־‬Corrosion resistance.
Delete what is written in Sub-Clause 106.1 (b) and replace with:
"Using the evaluation of test results, described in Appendix A,
the grade of resistance shall not be less than 6".
