IF YOU WERE A CHEYENNE
In the beginning there was nothing, and
Maheo, the All Spirit, lived in the
void...There was only Maheo, alone in
nothingness... With his Power, Maheo
created a great water, like a lake, but
salty…” There should be water beings,"
Maheo told his Power. And so it was. First
the fish,..., and then the mussels and snails
and crawfish, lying on the sand and mud
Maheo had formed... Let us also create
something that lives on the water, Maheo
thought to his Power. And so it was. For
now there were snow geese, ... I should like
to see the things that have been created,
Maheo decided. And, again, so it was. ...

IF YOU WERE AN IROQUOIS
In the beginning, the world was
not as we know it now. It was a
water world inhabited only by
animals and creatures of the air
who could survive without land.
Up above, the Sky World was
quite different. Human-type
beings lived there with infinite
types of plants and animals to
enjoy. In the Sky World, there was
a Tree of Life that was very special
to the people of the Sky World.
They knew that it grew at the
entrance to the world below….

IF YOU WERE AN ANCIENT GREEK
In the begining there was only chaos. Then out of the
void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where
death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent,
endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born
bringing a start of order. From Love came Light and
Day. Once there was Light and Day, Gaea, the earth
appeared. Then Erebus slept with Night, who gave
birth to Ether, the heavenly light, and to Day the
earthly light. Then Night alone produced Doom, Fate,
Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and others that come
to man out of darkness. Meanwhile Gaea alone gave
birth to Uranus, the heavens. Uranus became Gaea's
mate covering her on all sides. Together they
produced the three Cyclopes, the the
Hecatoncheires, and twelve Titans...
