SNOW WHITE
CALLIOPE THEATRE COMPANY’S
SNOW WHITE
The beautiful princess, Snow White, lives with her step-mother, the evil Queen Black. Our
story begins with Snow White’s 18th birthday. Everyone in the palace is getting ready for
her birthday party…a pizza party! Prince William arrives and plans to ask Snow White to
marry him.
Every day, the evil Queen Black looks into her Magic Mirror and the Mirror tells her that
she is the fairest woman in the land. But on Snow White’s 18 th birthday, the Mirror tells
Queen Black that since Snow White is now grown-up, that she is the “Fairest in the Land.”
Queen Black becomes very angry and decides that she will take Snow White into the Dark
Forest and abandon her, leaving Snow White in the forest to die.
In the forest, Snow White is all alone, afraid and very cold. But then she meets Big Tall
Tony and she helps him find his glasses with the help of her animal friends. Big Tall Tony
then tells Snow White that she should go to the house of his friend, Sunday, where she will
be warm and dry.
At the house Snow White meets the Seven Dwarves, who are all named after each of the
seven days of the week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday) and each dwarf is dressed in the seven colours of the rainbow. Snow White is so
happy with her new friends that she decides to live with them.
Queen Black, now certain that Snow White is dead, checks her Magic Mirror to find out
who is the “Fairest in the Land” and is shocked to find out that Snow White is still alive and
living with the Seven Dwarves. Queen Black dresses up as a poor old woman and tricks
Snow White into eating a poisoned apple.
Can Prince William and the Seven Dwarves save Snow White?

BEFORE THE SHOW
Talk About The Story
1.) Go over a simple version of SNOW WHITE with the children. Ask them to name the
principal characters and describe the characters.
2.) SNOW WHITE is a fairy tale. Ask your students about other fairy tales they know. Talk
about imagination. What is real and what is make-believe?
3.) In our version of SNOW WHITE, Snow White loves to make people happy.
Ask the students how they feel when they make someone happy. Ask the students what
things they do for their friends and family that make them happy.
4.) Tell the students that the show they are going to see is a new version of SNOW WHITE.
Ask them to imagine that they were putting on the play SNOW WHITE. What ideas would
they add to the original story? After the show, ask students what new characters and ideas
were in our version of the story.

SNOW WHITE
ACTIVITY #11 – Don’t TALK TO STRANGERS!
Dear Teacher,
Calliope Theatre Company’s version of Snow White is a fun and interactive play, with many
of the traditional characters from the beloved fairy tale. But the story of Snow White can
also be an appropriate opportunity to talk with your students about safety. The story
provides a gentle way to remind children about the dangers of talking to strangers.
Using “The Number Song” you can talk about the discussion questions below.
Sing one and two
And say “Who are you?”
Sing three and four
Don’t open the door!
Sing five and six,
and watch out for tricks.
Sing seven and eight, nine and ten,
Beware of strange women and men.
Discussion questions
1.) What is a stranger? (Many children struggle to understand the concept of a stranger.
Explain that strangers are people we do not know.) Some strangers are nice, some are
not, but because we do not know them we need to know how to keep ourselves safe.
2.) In our story, Snow White becomes scared when she is alone in the Dark Forest. Who
can you talk to when you get scared? Who are your “safe” people?
3.) Snow White hears a strange old woman at the door. Should she open the door? Does
she “watch out for tricks”? What other things might she do? (Hide? Call an adult for
help?)
