1. Stanza 1: The speaker was walking, alone, when all of a sudden he saw some daffodils
(Wordsworth Stanza 1).
2. Stanza 2: The speaker noted that there were thousands of daffodils in a line near the
edge of the lake and enjoyed how they moved (Wordsworth Stanza 2).
3. Stanza 3: The speaker continued watching the movement of the daffodils, noting how
they were more pleasant to watch than the waves. He mentions that at that time he
didn’t realize how valuable this scene would be to him (Wordsworth Stanza 3).
4. Stanza 4: He values this memory because he can recall it when he feels lonely or sad, and
then he feels happy (Wordsworth Stanza 4).
5. Summary: In Wordsworth’s poem, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, the lonely speaker
