Call to Worship
An American Hymn
arr. Ed Hogan
arr. Cecil Effinger
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties above
the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with
brotherhood, from sea to shining sea. O beautiful for pilgrim feet, whose stern impassioned
stress a thoroughfare for freedom beat across the wilderness. America! America! God mend
thine every flaw. Confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law. O beautiful for heroes
proved in liberating strife, who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life.
America! America! May God thy gold refine, till all success be nobleness and every gain
divine. O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years,
thine alabaster cities gleam undimmed by human tears.
God of the Ages
*Modern Affirmation
We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love,
whose mercy is over all his works,
and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good.
We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Man,
the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope,
and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.
We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives,
whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ,
and find strength and help in time of need.
We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love
as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord,
to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.

*Response
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you desire;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labor and not to ask for any reward,
except that of knowing that we do your will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Matthew 20:20-28

Assisted hearing devices, large-print hymnals and bulletins, and children’s bulletins are available from our
ushers. Prayer Request Cards are available in the pews. These requests are lifted up by our faith community as
we care for one another. Children are always welcome in our worship services, but if you’d prefer to use our
nursery and toddler room, it is staffed with caring, trained, and competent adults. We are a “Safe Sanctuaries”
church. All who work with and care for children are trained by us and cleared by the state of Pennsylvania. Please
note: All of the parking spaces in front of the building are designated for people displaying a handicapped card.

We had twelve people for the work day at GLOBAL LINKS on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 and as usual
everyone was in a good mood, got a lot done and I hope had a good time. We spent the day sorting

that we had sorted. This will be our last trip to Lawrenceville as we will be going to their new facility in
Greentree in July. Our next work day will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

We had a group of ten people to work on Saturday May 18, 2013 for HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. This
house is to be rehabilitated and we were in the initial stage of the rehab. That means we spent the
day knocking all of the lath and plaster off of the walls and ceiling on the second floor. It was a very
dirty hot job. Our next work day will be June 15, 2013.
The CHURCH PICNIC will also be held next Sunday, June 2 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the
Grove. Please bring a side dish to share, and seating for you and your family (blankets/chairs).
As always, Ingomar youth will provide dessert for the annual Philippi dessert auction. All proceeds
will benefit the Philippi, West Virginia mission trip.
