“The Owls and Hawks of the Hillsborough”
Monday March 27th
Dwaine Oakley, a skilled wildlife photographer and naturalist, will open the “All Around the
Hillsborough” Speaker’s Series on Monday, March 27th with his presentation “The Owls and
Hawks of the Hillsborough”. Dwaine will use some of his spectacular photographs (see the
Barred Owl and Sharp-shinned Hawk above) and their calls to describe the diversity of owls
and hawks that have lived here since the late 1800s. His presentation will be held at Stratford
Town Hall's Southport Room starting at 7:30 pm.
The “All Around the Hillsborough” Speakers Series runs from March 27th to May 29th.
Hosted by the Hillsborough River Association and supported by Canadian Heritage Rivers Canada 150
Our second speaker in this series will be:
Jim Hornby, a well-known Island historian, will be offering his presentation “Tall Ships, Commerce and Culture on
the Hillsborough”. Jim will be speaking of life during this dynamic period in our history when tall ships plied the
Hillsborough. His presentation will be part of the Hillsborough River Association’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April
18th at Stratford Town Hall's Southport Room. The annual meeting will commence at 7:00 pm and his presentation will
commence at 8:00 pm.
