About this Calendar
For more than 55 years, Rockland BOCES has strived to provide the best learning
environment for each of our students. To respond to the ever-growing needs of our
learners, Rockland BOCES weaves together services and provider partnerships to
create a blanket of support that helps local children and families achieve success.
This is known as a “system of care.”
Our system of care is more than a program. It is an approach to services that
recognizes the importance of family, school and community, and seeks to promote
the full potential of every child and youth by addressing their physical, emotional,
intellectual, cultural and social needs.
Using a community wraparound process, Rockland BOCES embraces a collaborative
philosophy to provide coordinated and protective care throughout Rockland County,
ensuring delivery of support services that are accessible, culturally responsive,
strengths-based and family-driven.
This year’s calendar proudly features Rockland BOCES student artwork from all
grade levels and in various media. Within these pages, children and youth from
each of our programs share themselves and their world through artistic expression,
while highlighting the Rockland BOCES system of care.

through flexible, individualized instruction. The
programs provide educational options for students
who, for various reasons, have not experienced success
in the traditional classroom setting. With small studentteacher ratios, the alternative high school program
allows for the creation of personalized and informal
environments with attention to social-emotional and
academic needs. Through independent study and
non-traditional methods, River View students strive
to follow their individual paths to success.
Collaborations include the Partnership For Safe Youth,
ACCES-VR, the Mental Health Association of Westchester
and the Mental Health Association of Rockland.
