The Ski Report Thank you for being so helpful with scheduling testing before and after school! I really appreciate the extra effort you have made! Here is what we are learning this week: Language Arts: I can read and spell words that have the long /o/ sound (oa and ow). I can read words with 3 letter blends. I can read Sight Words. I can use context clues to figure out what a word means. I can read fluently. I can identify who is telling a story. I can identify the main topic and key details of a text. I can ask and answer questions about the text. I can tell how pictures and illustrations help me to understand the text. I can spell words using the sounds I hear. I can write a sentence with a capital at the beginning and a period at the end. I can add adjectives to my sentences. I can write an informational piece with a clear main topic and supporting details. We will take our State Diagnostic Test in small parts throughout the week. Math I can identify 3D shapes cone, cube, sphere, cylinder, rectangular prism **** We will finish up Perfect Family Pizzas throughout the week. We will also work one more day on telling time to the hour and half hour. I’ll be pulling some kiddos for Lunch Bunch to work on Greater Than, Less Than, and Equal to. Pretests were sent home today. Students with a score of 1 or 2 will be in Lunch Bunch groups. Science I can tell how water changes. I can tell that the sun is a source of energy. I can communicate about observations, investigations and explanations. Social Studies: This will be combined with Reading I can tell how location influences the way people live. I can use maps. Don’t forget to read every night for 20 minutes. Just Right bags should contain: -- a book at our current Reading Level --personal Sight Word Lists --Speed Drills --small bag of Spelling Cards They need these every day. We use them daily so it’s really important to keep them in our backpacks every day so they are ready to come back to school. 3/16-3/20 HW: Read for 20 minutes Please return Just Right Bags every day. We are not allowed to bring toys or dolls. Remember to bring a full water bottle filled with water only. Recess is outside and they come in wet and muddy. I don’t like to be in wet shoes or socks, so I understand how uncomfortable that is. I cannot call home for clothes. Please be sure your child has a change of clothes or at least dry socks. We could use some more snacks for the snack cupboard. Story of the Week: Mr. Bones, Dinosaur Hunter HFW (All Students tested Friday.) found, mouth, once, took, wild Test is choosing the right word to complete a sentence. Spelling Words Level A: row, snow, show, boat, coat, float Level B: boat, row, coat, pillow, road, show, soap, snow, float, blow Level C: pillow, throw, growth, window, bowling, boat, boast, throat, toaster, floating Friday Tests: Level A: Multiple Choice if needed. Levels B and C: Spelling City If you pass the test in centers on Thursday, you do not have to take it Friday.
