BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE
Description
BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE is a solvent-free, natural latex that can be used to
permanently bond and repair clothing and fabrics
BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE can be machine washed, ironed (tested up to 180ºC)
and remains flexible when dry. It is fast drying (sticks in three minutes) and
provides a convenient alternative to sewing and stitching

Applications

Clothing – hems and trouser turn-ups, fit zips and repair worn sleeves
Labelling – attach labels and badges to clothes
Shoe laces – when lace ends fray, put a drop on your finger and roll on the end of your lace
Furnishings – perfect for taking up curtain hems, attaching pelmets and decorating soft furnishings
Prevention – protect jeans and trousers from wearing out at the knees by applying BOSTIK SEW
SIMPLE to the back of the fabric
Tears – repair torn fabric using a patch. Apply BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE to the inside of the garment
and to the patch and smooth into place
Buttons – apply a drop of BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE to buttons to stop them unthreading
Adhesion
BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE bonds to most fabrics (e.g. linen, cotton, denim etc) as well as leather and felt
Limitations

Not suitable for use on 100% nylon, polyester fabrics
Not suitable for white materials. May discolour light coloured and delicate fabrics. We recommend
testing on a small area first
Using too much glue may cause bleed-through and staining
Not suitable for applications exposing the glue line to a large amount of sunlight (can result in the
glue line darkening over time, which may then become visible through light coloured fabrics)
Safety instructions
Although BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE is non-toxic, it is advisable to wear gloves in order to avoid direct
contact with the skin. Latex may cause skin sensitization with susceptible users and safe handling
practices should be implemented to avoid irritating sensitive skin. Avoid eye contact. If glue comes in
contact with skin or eyes, flush thoroughly and immediately with water. If irritation continues, seek
medical attention

Surface preparation
The surface must be clean and dry

Remove the cap from tube
Apply a fine thread/line of BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE to both sides of fabric to be joined. Alternatively,
apply to one surface, and then mate briefly to the other surface to ensure transfer of glue (so
that glue is on both surfaces)
Glue can be smeared with finger to spread evenly
Avoid excess application (for delicate fabrics, test on a small area before use)
Clean nozzle and replace cap after use
Allow each side to dry separately for about 3 minutes, then assemble the two sections, ensuring
glued areas are pressed together firmly
Allow to dry before rough handling
Final drying times may vary, depending on ambient conditions
Cleaning

Uncured BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE can be removed using water
To remove from fabric once set, soak in paraffin or Toluene overnight, and then rub off. First check
for colourfastness on a small area of the fabric before soaking in solvent
Storage stability
BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE has a shelf life of at least 12 months if stored in a cool (below 25°C), dry place
in it’s original moisture-tight container
If the material is kept beyond the recommended shelf life, it is not necessarily unusable, but a check
should be performed to observe whether the product is still workable
To maximize the shelf life of the opened tube, it is advisable to create an airtight environment. This
can be achieved by wiping down the opening and placing a piece of plastic over it, screwing on the
nozzle and storing in a cool environment
