Dear Valued Customer,
As response to the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) requirement which will take effect as
from 1 January 2011, MOL has decided to file a new rule in our tariff for all her shipments to the
European Union and or transshipped via a port located in the EU or a vessel calling on an EU
port. This tariff, like the “US customs submission of cargo declaration (AMS) filing to the USA”,
will compensate MOL for the administrative and technical resources required for enforcing and
complying with European Union new advance cargo security rules ”24 hours rule”.
The details of this tariff are:
An ENS is required irrespective of the final destination of each individual shipment on a vessel
arriving in the EU. This means that an ENS is required for shipments:

Imported into the EU
Discharged in an EU port for transit by rail or truck to a non-EU destination
Transshipped in an EU port for loading on to another vessel for carriage to a non-EU
destination
Remaining on board the vessel (FROB) during ports of call in the EU with a destination
outside the EU.

The ENS filing charge and any amendment fees shall be applicable on the same basis as ocean
freight, either prepaid or collect. Carrier may hold shipper and consignee named on its bill of
lading jointly liable for payment of the charge.

The port of Reunion (France) is also part of the European Union wherefore ENS filing is also
applicable for this Island in the Indian Ocean. We advise you to liaise with your local MOL
contact to get the exact vessel details for this specific port.
