Color Your Cares Away - Adult Coloring

Wednesday, November 4
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Atop Amazon’s bestselling book list last month
was the Secret Garden, but it was the coloring
book and not the 1911 novel by Burnett. Focus
on coloring a page stills our minds while also
stimulating the brain’s areas that control motor
skills, creativity and the senses. If you are
hungry for that youthful joy of coloring between
the lines, it’s not too late. Participants of the
class will receive pencils and a coloring book to
take along.
Class size is limited to 20.
Individuals must be 18 and older to
participate.
Fresh Evergreen Wreath Making Class
Saturday, December 12
12:00 noon
Make a beautiful evergreen wreath to decorate
your home for the holidays. Fresh-cut greens,
ring, wire and ribbons as well as embellishments
will be supplied and included in the cost of the
class.

Adult Enrichment Classes
Fall 2015
In conjunction with the library’s mission to
support lifelong learning, the Hershey Public
Library hosts a variety of classes for adults.
Participation in most of the classes involves a
fee,* which covers all of the classes in the
series and is determined by the instructor.
The library does not keep any part of the
fee.
If you are interested in enrolling in any of
the classes, you must stop by the Circulation
Desk to pick up the packet for the particular
class. Upon completion of the registration
form and submission of the fee made payable
to the designated individual, you will be
considered enrolled in the class.
Some classes are limited in size. They will be
filled on a first come, first served basis. The
classes are open to individuals 18 and older
unless otherwise noted. *Fees will not be
reimbursed after the first class.
Understanding Hinduism
Mondays beginning September 21
through October 19
6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
This five-week course will explore the
history, worldview and practices of
Hinduism, the world’s oldest religion.
Topics covered will include: ritual practices,
karma and reincarnation, class and caste,
Hindu scriptures, Hindu deities, the
relationship between Hinduism and other
world religions and the influence of
Hinduism on Western Culture.

Cake Pop Making Class
Wednesday, September 30
6:00 to 7:45 p.m.
Do you love Cake Pops, but can’t quite figure
out how to make them or….have you tried
making them before but ended up with an ugly
mess? In this class you will learn the correct
techniques and tips from the beginning and will
make a pumpkin cake pop in the class to take
home.
Class size is limited to 20.
Registrants must be 12 and older to
participate.
Introduction to Basket
Weaving
Thursday, October 15
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Central PA Basket Guild members will teach
you how to weave a simple pencil holder basket
in just two hours. Instruction will include how
to insert spokes, several weaving techniques
using round and flat reed and several ways to
finish the rim. All materials will be supplied.
Class size is limited to 14.
Developing a Premise for Your Story
Wednesday, October 21
6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Every story needs a basic start: a premise.
Do you have a story in mind but don’t know
where to begin? Are you working on a story
and need refocusing?
This class will help you build a solid premise,
a fundamental concept that will drive your
plot.
Class size is limited to15.
Bringing Conflict into Your Story
Wednesday, October 28
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Without conflict, there is no story. In this
class, you will learn how to raise the stakes
and bring tension into your writing along
with how to build a great-looking story with
plenty of horsepower.

Introduction to Birds
Thursdays, October 22 and 29 (6:00 to
7:30 p.m. at the library) and Saturday,
October 31 (1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at
Waggoner’s Gap Hawk Watch)
Join Audubon staff at the library to learn
about the birds of the area during two
evening classes and then apply your
knowledge during a field trip to Waggoner’s
Gap Hawk Watch near Carlisle, PA. to
observe the fall raptor migration.
