metre; metre and centimetre; centimetre and millimetre; kilogram and gram; litre
and millilitre).
Year 5 children practised converting m to km to build up their fluency. The
children were encouraged to identify the relationship between the two measurements
e.g. 1000 times larger/smaller.
Some children were able to explain this relationship:
e.g. 1000m = 1 km
Other children were also able to link this previous work on x1000 and ÷1000
