What is Travel Training?
How do you request Travel
Training?
Travel Training is a program that teaches
people with and without disabilities how
to ride MTA buses. Our goal is to provide
one-on-one training that will help you
feel comfortable and confident riding to
your destination. Presentations including
information about the Music City Central
transit station and travel training for
groups are available.
Who is eligible to receive Travel
Training?
Anyone who wants to learn how to
ride MTA buses can sign up for Travel
Training. This service is helpful for
students, seniors, people with and
without disabilities and anyone with a
desire to learn how to ride the bus.
Where is Travel Training held?
Hands-on training may be taught in a
classroom, a private facility, near the
customer’s home, or on a bus. We will
design a program to fit your needs.
When is Travel Training held?
Your needs will determine when Travel
Training is held. We offer day and evening
classes, and training may take place on a
weekday or on a Saturday.

All MTA buses are fully accessible.
How long does Travel Training last?
Travel Training lasts as long as
necessary to make sure you are ready
and able to ride MTA buses. Both you
and the trainer must feel confident about
your progress and decide the level of the
training together.
Is there a cost for Travel Training?
There is no charge for Travel Training,
but you will need to pay the standard
bus fare. Seniors ages 65 and older,
people with disabilities, and youth
ages 19 and younger are eligible for a
discounted fare.
Travel Training can help people with disabilities
learn to ride MTA and RTA buses and the
Music City Star train with confidence.
