Even his death certificate, shows the wrong year of birth. It shows Jul 15, 1843. The 1850 and 1860
census es prove he was b orn after th e 185 0 censu s. Becau se of the d ates the w rong pe rson is sh own as his
mother on the birth certificate.
Bobby Alford apparently still has some differences regarding the dates on William H. Alford.

MAN SHOT L OSES E YES --------- Bill Alford, Accidentally Discharged Gun, Shot Hits Crid Wilson
An accidental shooting occured about 6 o'clock Monday night on the Frank Miller farm, in the Ray's Branch
neighb orhood , resulting in Crid Wilson , 69, farm er, losing b oth eyes. T he inju red man was rush ed to the c ity
hospital, where b oth eyes w ere remo ved last n ight.
The w ound ed man was sho t by Bill A lford, 80 , when a shot gu n belon ging to F rank M iller was acc identally
discharged while Alford was loading it in a crate house on the place. The load passed through the inch plank
walls of the building and struck Wilson, who was seated in a chair just outside the building, twenty-four shot
penetrating the eyeballs and face.
Wilson and A lford we re emplo yed by M iller to guard his melo n patch and the y were ab out to go o n duty
when the accid ent hap pened . Wilson fully exon erated A lford, statin g that the s hooting was pu rely acciden tal.

Washington, announcing the death of her son, Corporal George W. Alford, Infantry, caused
from cerebral hemorhage on December 13th.
"Corporal Alford was 24 years of age and was born at Anna, this county. He was stationed at El
Paso, Tex., for some time and sailed for France two years ago, last May. He was wounded on
Novem ber 5th last when he assisted in the cap ture of a G erman officer, nin shot-ente ring his
head and six in his left arm.
"Besides a mother, he leaves surviving his father, one sister, Miss Maggie Alford, and three
brothers, Ro bert, Clifton, and Homer, all of A nna."

Comments from Kinfolk: From family stories we have learned little about Viola prior to her marriage to our
Grandfather, Frank Albert Dann. Her first marriage was to a man known only as "Mr. Holloway" at her
father's house in O hio Co., K Y. She w as very young at the tim e, she was 15 and he w as 42. Her fath er,
William Henderson Alford told her he wanted nothing more to do with her for marrying this "older man," but
they married at the resid ence of her fath er. Mr. Ho lloway decided that he wou ld take his young bride west.
They trav eled by w agons to Arkan sas. We don't kno w wh at happ ened to this "M r. Hollow ay", but it w as said
that h e left h er with a fam ily he m et and wen t on h is way.
She then married a Frank Boudry. He died and she married his brother, James. We don't know what
happened in that marriage, but it ended. She had no children with these husbands. She met and married
Frank Albert Dann and spent the remainder of her life with him. They met in Arkansas and married there, but
we don't know where or when they were married. We do know that they lived there the rest of their lives and
died the re and ar e buried in Pine Bluff, A rkansas. T hey traveled back to K entuck y with their c hildren once to
visit family, an d she w as forgiven by her fath er. After th ey returne d to Ark ansas, h er sisters and their
husbands cam e to visit from time to time, but not often as travel was then by wagons.
