2016 She and Me Camp
Parent/Guardian
Information Sheet
Dear Campers and Parents/Guardians,
We are happy to confirm your registration for She and Me Camp. This will be a special weekend for you and your girl(s). It is our goal
to provide you with a unique opportunity to relax and have fun together; enjoying each other’s company as you share both quiet
time and lively camp activities. Our staff will offer a variety of camp activities, and you can participate in these activities or just relax
together in the cool pines.
OPEN HOUSE
We invite you and your camper to join us at Whispering Pines for our OPEN HOUSE event on June 5th from 1pm-4pm. This is the
perfect opportunity for your camper to become familiar with the camp environment and meet some of her camp counselors. It is
especially helpful if this will be her first time at camp. There is very limited parking at Whispering Pines, so we encourage you to car
pool with other families you may know. A map is enclosed for your convenience. Please read the following information carefully,
even if you and your child has been to camp before. This holds important information for a great camp experience.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT TIMES
Check-in is 4pm on Friday, July 8th. We will be serving dinner that evening. Our evening activities will begin at 7:00 p.m. with
orientation and a campfire* program. You are responsible for your transportation to and from camp. A map is enclosed. We
encourage you to car pool with others you may know. When you arrive at Camp Whispering Pines, please back into the parking
space. Check-out time is 11am on Sunday, July 10th. Breakfast will be provided.
BUNGALOW & CABIN ASSIGNMENT
Bungalows and cabins will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: check-in and bungalow/cabin assignments
will not begin before 4:00 p.m.; all those who arrive earlier will be given a number and called in random order at check-in time. If
you have a large group (more than 6 people total), and would like to be housed together, please let us know in advance by emailing
[email protected]. We are not able to accommodate requests made under 48 hours’ notice.
MEDICAL HISTORY
Physicals are not required for She & Me Camp. Please make sure each camper has a completed online profile completed by a
parent or guardian. Adults who are attending must also complete an online profile in campdoc.com. Also, please be sure indicate
if there are any dietary restrictions or needs.
PROGRAM
All programs will be offered on a sign-up basis and are optional. You may participate in as much or as little as you would like. Some
of the programs offered include archery, hiking, arts and crafts (supplies provided), dramatics, singing, dancing, and outdoor
games. All meals will be provided; the second day for lunch the choices are a lunch hike or cook-out (both facilitated by staff).
THEME: This year’s theme is Dynamic Duos! Thelma and Louise, superwoman and batgirl? You decide!
FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Your fees include all meals, beverages and snacks, and there will be plenty of food provided. Other than water, please do not bring
food, candy, gum, or beverages to camp, unless you are able to keep them locked in your car trunk. We can also store food in the
kitchen for you if necessary. Food is an open invitation for animals and insects to join you in your sleeping quarters.
*All water used at Camp Whispering Pines is collected from Mother Earth. With limited precipitation this season, water is
very precious. We ask campers to bring 2 gallons of drinking water up with them if they are able to.
FIRST AID/MEDICATIONS
There will be several first-aiders on site to address medical concerns and injuries. We also have supplies for basic first aid needs.
Parents (or accompanying adults) are responsible for dispensing all prescribed medications. We are able to store medications if
needed. Medications must be in their original prescription container which lists the patient's name, medication, dosage, doctor's
name, and phone number. Patients must be under current doctor's orders to take prescribed medications.
TRADING POST
There will be a Trading Post available at camp. The Girl Scout of Southern Arizona shop will be stocked with camping items for sale
prior to camp and on the return from camp. Items for sale include T-shirts, patches, cups, mugs, hats, jewelry, fuzzy critters and
more.
REFUND POLICY
If you have not yet paid your fees in full, please note that the balance due must be paid at least 30 days before the starting date of
the session. Also, if you have paid in advance, refunds of camp fees (less your deposit) are only available when requests are
received in writing at the council office at least four weeks before the session begins. Refunds do not include the per person/ per
session deposit; deposits are not refundable or transferable. Every effort will be made to place your camper in another camp if she

IMPORTANT
• PLEASE DO NOT PACK FOOD, CANDY OR GUM OF ANY KIND. Food is an open invitation to animals and insects to
join you in your sleeping quarters. For the safety of you and sister campers, campers found with candy, food or gum
in their personal items and/or in their sleeping bag will be sent home. There will be plenty of food provided at camp.
If your camper has special dietary items, they must be given to the camp cook at check-in.
• Please be sure that sleeping bags and backpacks are clean. If these items may have had food spilled on them, they
should be washed before camp.
• Body care products must be unscented. Soap, deodorant, lotion, etc. should be unscented. (You can find at sporting
goods stores such as REI, Summit Hut and Sports Authority) Animals and insects are more attracted to scented
products. Leave radios, CD/MP3 players, electronic games, cell phones, blow dryers and similar devices at home.
• Leave sandals at home. Bring only close-toed, sturdy shoes with tread, such as athletic shoes or hiking boots. Shower
shoes can be brought to wear in the shower only.

at camp!
