Information for activity leader:
c Photocopy this template onto card for the best effect.
You will need:
c Colouring pencils or pens
c Scissors
c String
What to do:
cColour the grass green and the baby
rabbit brown.
cColour the body of the red kite
reddish-brown. Its wings are reddishbrown near the body, turning into a
large white patch and then black tips.
The tail is black and white.
cCarefully cut out each of the three
pieces along the dotted lines.
cCut one long piece of string. Thread
one end through the hole in the grass,
so that you have a short piece of string
on one side, and the long piece on the
other. Tie a knot to attach the grass to
the string.
cAdd the baby rabbit and then the red
kite further along the piece of string in
the same way.
Now you have made a food chain
mobile! Baby rabbits eat grass, and red
kites eat baby rabbits.
Despite being quite big, red
kites are not very strong.
They are scavengers, which
means they eat lots of
different things depending on
what they can find, such as
worms, voles, rabbits or dead
farm animals.
