We will be participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Walk, which will take place on Monday at 4 pm at the Albany County Courthouse. We will meet at the ALA office (located on 22nd street between Grand Ave. and the football field) at 3:30pm and then relocate to the courthouse. The walk is followed by a dinner in the Union. This will be a great opportunity to get to know other students, community members, and neighbors while celebrating diversity during the University of Wyoming’s annual Days of Dialogue. Please dress appropriately for the weather. There are several other opportunities available throughout the week that are included in the Days of Dialogue, and for a full schedule throughout the week please visit http://mlkdod.wordpress.com/schedule/ We hope to see you all there! Fire Extinguisher Inspections Every Month there Mr. Leo Clymer will be entering the River Village and Landmark apartments to check the location and condition of the fire extinguishers sometime after the second Monday. This will take minutes or less per apartment. Please make sure your extinguisher is in it’s proper location and nothing is in the way. Remember, the extinguisher and the hanger it is on is not a place for you to hang a coat or towel. It is there for your safety in the case of a fire emergency. At not time should it be moved or replaced unless you are actually using it to put out a small fire. Please also make sure your smoke detectors are always in working order and never taken down or misplaced. Candles and other flammables are not allowed in your apartment so do not purchase them or use them at all. This includes incense or any other aromatic device that heats. Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in all apartments and can only take place 20 feet away from all buildings. Thank you for your help with this process this month and in the future. Your cooperation is appreciated and it was fun seeing many of you and your lovely decorations during the December visit. Questions? Soooo many questions A special edition of the FLASH will be coming out later this month that will be focused on what is happening with the new construction of the Bison Run Village apartment complex and news for current residents of Landmark, River Village, and Spanish Walk. Please watch for this information when it arrives and remind your roommates, partners, and neighbors that reading the FLASH is one of the best ways to get the latest. You may also go to the Residence Life & Dining Services web site for information at www.uwyo.edu/reslife-dining and click on the appropriate links about the apartments and virtual tours of Bison Run Village. Follow UW Reslife & Dining on Face Book! We regularly post news, updates, photos, reminders and other fun stuff on our Fac Book page. It's a great way to stay in tune and in touch. www.facebook.com/WyoReslifeDining Area News By: Elijah Cox, River Village ALA Welcome back to School!! I hope everyone had a great break and are ready to start the spring semester. As it is the beginning of a new semester and there are a lot of new people there are some things that everyone should remember. First of all there are quiet hours after 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. during the week and 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. during the weekend. This is important because a lot of people have families with children and for others their apartment is their study area. Please be respectful of your neighbors and those in your complex. Another thing to keep in mind, and I know that this is a little preemptive, is your check out dates. Remember that the Apartments require a 60 day notice that you are moving out. Those 60 days sneak up on you very quickly and it is always safer to try to plan ahead to let us know that you are moving out at the end of the semester. If you have any questions about the check out procedures don’t hesitate to contact your ALA. They’re all very good at answering e-mail. On a livelier note, the new Bison Run Village apartments will be coming on line soon and there will be tours and open houses throughout the semester. Keep your ears open and we’ll let you know when the activities commence. Welcome back to school and remember to stay ahead in your classes! Back to School….
